It's a beautiful June day and the air is perfect for a sunset flight! Richie puts up his little twin electric r/c powered by two 8.5x20mm coreless motors. Posting this video so I can watch it later, in the middle of winter!

That's a great way to spend the evening. Love the mix of balsa and tissue, coreless motors and small Lipo. End result is the perfect flight. Low speed and low noise with skilled piloting! I could feel my stress levels drop just watching. Thanks for sharing.

Hello Mike - I built a version of your supercap design last week. The maiden flight was excellent on a very short charge (I didn't measure the voltage). I did a couple more short flights and went home. Today I took it out and again started out with short charges of 10 seconds and got very satisfying flights, but under a minute. For the next flight I decided to charge it for about 20 seconds and, flying beautifully, it gained altitude to about 50 feet. The air wasn't perfectly calm and the slight breeze kept changing direction - while circling it just missed the tops of some trees and was last seen flying over a 4 story house. I had written my phone number on it, so it's possible that I'll get it back. Still, a magnificent flight - well over a minute before it was out of sight and still at 40 feet. Thanks for you video series - I'll be making my second one this week!

Hi Stu!....Thanks for letting me know how your plane flew. Glad to hear it worked, sorry to hear it worked so well! I gave you a shout out on the last video (posted today)(edit: oops, I mean the video I'm working on today, it'll be posted soon) and even got your name right, although I wasn't sure at the time when we were recording at the field.....If you get any pictures or videos of your plane I'd love to have copies so I could include them along with some others I've received from other builders when I put together a video of viewers' builds. (email sousamichael@aol.com and put "Mike and Richie" in the subject line to avoid the spam filter.) It's worth building the digital charger we covered in a previous video, but as an alternative you could hook up a regular voltmeter to your charging leads (parallel to the capacitor) and disconnect the battery when you reach the desired voltage. A couple tenths of a volt makes a difference in flight times. We find that 2.80 volts is a max charge and almost guarantees a flyaway with this little plane. We test fly at 2.5 or so, step it up a tenth at a time... Congratulations on building such a good performer! Hope you get her back...and that your next one flies just as well but stays closer to home! Mike

tech malfunction, we lost some valuable video footage there....I blame the camera....cough....cough.... Richie's planes always have a certain look to them...after a while you can recognize his work just like you can recognize the work of all the masters!

You two remind me of how I am with my long time friend that also builds stupid projects, most of our stuff is "experimental" and halfway broken and fixed.

Hey, I think I know that deadbeat you mentioned at the beginning of the video! My guess is he’s definitely guilty of something and likely YouTubing from behind bars. That airplane and Richie are both excellent fliers! The airplane looks like a little DH Venom in the air. Please get right in there with the camera and show us some close-ups of the innards of these little birds (and wipe a dab of Vaseline on the lens when when you’re videoing Richie’s face)!

Hi Ron! Glad you saw our video! Careful how you talk about that guy we mentioned in the video, we are pretty fond of him. We'll try to get more close-ups of the gear for tech geeks like you in the future! take care, Mike and Rich
