Thanks, very useful I am about to do my first oil change.... after the recommended 20 hours (not sure if that actually includes the break in hours? you refill the gear oil from the top rather than the bottom hole with the pump. I guess it should not matter? lol full is full do you reuse your gaskets? the manufacturers always tell you to switch but for practical purposes it is not needed all the time I guess? when do you change the two inline filters, it says check in the manual. but what should I check, after 20 hours it still looks clean, i.e. yellow.

I have never prepared it for long storage, I run it once a month to temperature as a minimum. As I’m always about in my garage. But it’s something I could try end of this season

Nice video, thank you very much for the explanation. When replacing the oil filter, I cannot see whether there is an O ring or a gasket in between when closing it?

@@jos9678 no gasket on the oil filter housing to engine there is a small o ring on the filter itself

@@mohdfakrurrazi2887 when you put the gear link back together after taking the lower end off. You need to make sure the gear shaft is moved back to neutral. You can do this by moving it with your hand up and down then moving the propeller each time. The propeller will move freely both ways if it’s in neutral. This is when you line it back up and put the lower end back together. set the gear lever to neutral and connect the gear rod to the gear lever through the small access hole once it’s lined back up. You need to be careful when you line the gear shaft through the linkage, as you can push the gearbox into gear again if you haven’t loosened the linkage enough. If that happens lever will not be set to the correct gear and it will not go into gear. You can leave the linkage loose and reset to neutral through the access hole if this happens but sometimes you might to take the lower end off again.

I got a 6hp Suzuki as well, looks the same like yours. But it does not have an oil filter housing as yours. And yes, it is a 4stroke. Any idea where the oil filter could be hiding?

Best thing to do would be look a the identification plate as I show in the beginning of the video and search for a manual online. For example my 6hp is a DF6 model from reading the first part of serial plate. Most 4strokes have oil filters might be yours does not. But have a look for the serial/ identification plate usually located on the clamp of the outboard. Then search that online
