I’ve had difficulty learning to draw so I’ve adopted some of these strategies. I’ve begun to draw using shapes rather than that umbrella blowing in the wind or that exotic sports car. Boxes and rectangles help keep my subject corralled and then I move on to defining and detail work. I’m hoping this will help my progress. Oh, and of course, I watch your videos that are so helpful.

Drawing is just a matter of teaching the eye what to look at and allow the hand to follow what the eye is seeing.

Thanks for the tip Dianne , when is someone going to invent a cap for our tubes of paint , theres nothing more frustrating thqn trying to screw one up when in mid flow of a painting , what about a cap similar to a washing up liquid cap ?
@IntheStudioArtInstruction
@IntheStudioArtInstruction 5 жыл бұрын
I've been wondering that for decades. The neater painters among us would advise us to wipe off the tube before reapplying the cap. I'm as guilty as anyone of not doing that.

Is it okay that I look at things as geometrical shapes, as well as the light, color and shadows?
@IntheStudioArtInstruction
@IntheStudioArtInstruction 5 жыл бұрын
Yes. Seeing things as to what makes them appear the way to do includes seeing their geometrical shapes.

Thank you very much... how I can name my paintings ?
@IntheStudioArtInstruction
@IntheStudioArtInstruction 5 жыл бұрын
Ah, now there's one we all struggle with. Begin with what was your intention for doing the painting? You might get a title from that. OR what is your feeling about the subject: there could be a title there. Some artists just give their paintings numbers, such as "Flower Study, 4" but even though I've done that a few times, I don't think it says much. Sometimes, just using the location if it's a landscape such as many historical painters have done. There's really no formula for giving a painting a title, but perhaps following these ideas might help.

Plz give tips how to paint a flower in acrylic
@IntheStudioArtInstruction
@IntheStudioArtInstruction 3 жыл бұрын
I'm not an acrylic painter, but I can tell you that it's not the kind of paint you use, but how you see and translate the colors in light and shadow, and how you use the brush to for those shapes.
