Hi good Tut but some to the first example: You may not put the material on the plane, you have to put the plane under the background-object and give the background-object the compositing tag with option background-compositing activated and recieve shadow on and cast shadow off. So the plane get invisible and recieves shadow . you also can take a normal Floor-Object.

Is there any way to remove the HDRi shadow and use an area lamp to generate shadows? Trying to get the HDRi to light and reflect the object, but wish to avoid any shadows from it on the floor. Thank you for your helpful tutorials.
@DIGITALMEAT3 жыл бұрын
The only way to stop the HDRI from producing shadows is turn off GI, then you can use the hdri for reflections and light your scene normally

@@DIGITALMEAT Thank you so much. I also found these 2 options: 1. In Material of Floor - Illumination channel - Uncheck - receive GI illumination (BEST) 2. Use Shadow Catcher material on floor (It does not read HDRi)

great tutorial! random question...can i use an HDRI sky image to light my object, but not have the HDRI image be rendered? i just want my object to be light by it, but don't want to see the HDRI in the render.
@BEEFDOCTOR2 жыл бұрын
Yes, add a compositing tag to your sky, and uncheck seen by camera.

Compositing background with this method is not working with prorender in c4d R20. Any idea how to make that work with prorender?

Then turn off "seen by camera" in the compositing tag 😉

Great tutorial! But I am trying to use this technique with the prorender from c4d R20. The compositing option for background seems greyed out when I change the rederer from standard to prorender. Any other way to make it work in prorender?
@DIGITALMEAT5 жыл бұрын
I don't think it's supported in prorender yet

So I *think* I've got everything right, but whenever I try the "Compositing Background for HDR" option, the plane is still partially visible. Almost like it's casting a shadow. Any ideas?

NOT Working. As other users said in the comments, the plane/floor is very visible, it shows almost like a shadow if the HDRI is darker in color like a street. If you use a HDRI with a light color like grass, the plane/floor shows lighter instead. Tested in R19 and R23 on Mac. Maybe a problem with the Mac version? Can you revisit this tutorial to check what might be the problem?

I have a small question I tried experimenting with HdRI in an interior scene. I have thin and set to transparency windows meshes that are set to transparent material with refraction also active as material. So reflectance and transparency are on. For some reason the compositing tag doesn't remove the SKY HDRI when looking through transparent windows that have those material characteristics. Maybe there is something that i'm not checking right in the checks part under the compositing tag ugh ^_^'' When I zoom out from the scene meaning when I am outside of the mesh are the compositing tag works fine, but not when looking through a transparent mesh. I also tried tweaking the compositing tag settings but it's a mess.

In the compositing tag, check off "Seen by Refraction"

The amount of heavy sighs in this tutorial is hilarious, it's like you've given up on life which is quite reasonable for any 3D artist i guess, thanks for the tutorial :D
