Quick Tip 42 - Drawing Basics (Blind Gesture Drawing)

It is possible to perfect blind gestural drawing to a very high degree of accuracy. I met someone many years ago who was very accurate because she practiced it so much. To me her ability was like the 4-minute mile that no one knew was possible until they actually saw it done.

If you mean accuracy from the viewpoint of describing the image, that's not the point of gesture drawing. Gesture drawing's purpose is to discover the movement within the image. When the eye is following the movement, it is surprising how much of the image is recognizable. Michelangelo's gesture drawings are a good example of that.
