Thank you once again.. It was a wonderful explanation of the tools and how they are used. My artist mother had mentioned when she was on the NYC WPA as a sculptor they used calipers to size up sculpture.

Yes, and so do potters to keep their sizes and proportions consistent.

I remember watching your other video on this some time ago, and I was so fascinated I did my best to figure out how to measure and then went all around checking things. It works! That was fun, but I then bought a fibonacci tool and have made good use of it from time to time. It still fascinates me that it always works. And if my composition just seems off no matter what I try, using the tool always shows me where the trouble spot is so I can adjust my focal point to a sweet spot. Thank you, Dianne.

My pleasure, Susanne. Yep, those universal principles never fail.

The original name for the Prospek Tool was Proportional Dividers. Often used in navigation maps and charting. I will soon have more information on my channel. The prospect tool is a safer version to use for drawing. However the Proportional Dividers are highly accurate instruments.

Great explanation! I think its interesting that the ratio isn't used to make pre stretched canvas or in framing. For example 16 x 20 is standard but not 16 x 26

Prospek ….aka proportional divider, scale divider. I do have both the prospek and the golden mean tool and use them all the time. I don’t know what I’d do without them.

They both look so simple, but from my viewpoint, are indispensable.

Love your instructions! And yes, I agree, it is something 'spiritual'! Every great artist has a design "calling card" or signature...And Jesus, The Creator, is the first to pattern after. Thank you for your videos. I'm about to start oil painting soon and I'm just learning so much from you...

Thank you for the valuable hints ....can we use the measurements of fibonacci in abstract paintings
@IntheStudioArtInstruction8 ай бұрын
Of course. It is universal to all painting.

I like to ask if that tool and the Rule of thirds are similar ? for those painters who wants to create theyr works with his aid for composition.
@IntheStudioArtInstruction Жыл бұрын
They have a relationship in that the Fibonacci tool divides the space so that it is close to the rule of thirds, but the proportional differences gives the composition more dynamics than the even proportions of the rule of thirds. Also the Fibonacci concept deals with a 2-part proportional relationship, whereas the rule of thirds considers a three-part proportional relationship.
