Thought I would share how I cut consistent thin strips for my cutting boards. Learn to do it safely.

I've always cut thin strips either by using a sacrificial pusher or for shorter lengths, a simple jig that's a board with a notch cut along one side. They seem like safe enough methods. I understand why many choose the waste side cut method, but I'm not a fan of having to reposition the fence after each cut. I learned the board with a notch trick from kelly mehler's table saw DVD. A zero clearance insert is definitely a must.

I used to use a sacrificial pusher, but tried to use it to often and cut away my push piece on the back once and got a nasty kickback. I probably should have mentioned the riving knife as well. Thanks for taking the time to comment!
