Many years ago I restored a friends old road bike and then went to deliver it. On the ride there I was booking downhill at 20mph plus and there was an entire block of the sidewalk removed.(approximately a meter long gaping hole).I have a bmx background and hucked that 35 pound old road bike as high as I can and cleared the gap. I spent over 4/5 hours cleaning/fixing that thing up and wasn't about to lose all that effort.

Bunny hopping over speed ripples or speed waves when you can't pass them is a life saver and admittedly a lot of fun! Yuh!

Thank you for this, I ride in a city that is not bike-friendly so I have circumnavigated varied terrain. I see how these skills will come in very handy.

Bunnyhops definitely useful!! I was behind a crash in a race a few weeks ago and even tho I was clear of the guy on the ground and his bike, his water bottle rolled right in my path and I jumped it haha

Thanks! I'm still fairly new to MTB and my skills suck especially on single tracks with lots of trees (all I'm good at so far is speeding down wide hills, basic drops and lifting my front wheel). I'll make the effort now to up my skills game and learn to bunny hop my hardtail. Also the wife bump was too cute 😍

great tips VC. but i won't try bumping into my wife though, that'll be more dangerous than bumping into a semi

I cx too so I've worked on bunny hopping. I was getting up in the air good and then I had one spectacular jump, however I didn't land that one well. A Buddy tried to bunny hop a couple guys who lost it on a corner, he came off his bike tumbled perfectly on grass(this was a crit race, he flew into someone's yard) got up and continued with the race.

you could explain why would you need pressure when making a turn downhil from outside foot (I am riding for 20 years and I do not know the answer, so I imagine hundreds others as well) I mean I do that pressure, but I do not know the reason for it

Get on the MTB and send it, and also spend a lot of time just messing around at low speed. Best 2 ways to improve skills, without having to do drills. Not saying these drills are not great of course. Great Vid Bro!

Turn your commute into skills practice (once you are comfortable enough to be safe)... trackstand opportunities all the time, and I would look out for a series of unchained bollards to slalom (there were 4 flagpoles that also worked well for faster slalom)... and when is there not a pothole to bunnyhop? Try not to shoulder bump cars or pedestrians though :)

👍safety vids👍 Lately I've been on my mnt bike one day and road the next, and each day I think about the safety precautions that I take. On the mnt I'm looking over my shoulder for predators like cougar, wolves, bear, or moose. On the road I'm looking out for crazy country dogs on the loose who like to chase and scare the poo out of cyclists. Also creeps in cars who stare and drive by several times. 😕 Needless to say, I carry protection when I ride.
