Would love to see you break down some of the lesser known islands throughout Indo! So many spots people don't know exist 🙌🏽

9:42 correct me if wrong, but there's a 500,000 rupiah visa on arrival fee for all Indonesia, plus a recently introduced 150,000 rupiah fee for Bali (approx 37€ combined)
@UziMusic5 ай бұрын
We went last month, paid both of those fees.. they never checked the 150,000r one though!
@DanHarmon1235 ай бұрын
Hi mate!! I thought it was just for the 60 day one you had to pay, but maybe it is all of them now!

@@DanHarmon123 Yep, and have to do the customs dec. online only, there was a mad backup of people getting sent back to do it as they got to desk and officer said do online now! haha

Bali is cooked. I went in 2006 and it was everything people said it was: cheap, great waves with minimal crowds, and basically a slice of heaven. I went back in 2019 and it was CROWDED, much more pricy, so much traffic, so noisy, and overall just made me a little sad. Other parts of Indo are still amazing but with the new highways opening they'll be cooked soon enough. There are just too many people now.

We were there last month, missus had gone in 22 I had never been, and when got to Canggu she said it was almost unrecognizable crippling traffic, 3+ hours from airport.. hated it, the river outflow full of garbage, ripoff tourist trap with boutique cookie shops and whitewashed trendy wankfest.. we got outta there after 1 night, didn't even consider getting in the water.. we stayed in Balangan, which was nice, but unbelievably crowded and I live at Snapper. Drop ins and snakes galore, overly aggressive south Americans (could have been Spanish but i doubt it) paddling dangerously for literally everything, it was 6ft solid swell, glad I went, but would never go Bukit again.. we went hunting and found there is spots still in Bali we stayed for 3 or 4 days and legit had daily paddles 4-5 of us out and outstanding waves.

Great video. Would you say hiring a car is safer (but just slower and annoying)?
@creamosites4 ай бұрын
Car is 5-10 times slower than going by bike. I learned to go by bike in Bali so, if you drive carefully, you'll will be ok with one. Been there half dozen times. And is the easiest way to check spots or stop wherever you want. Just take a nice taxi driver from/to airport to carry your big bags or for long day tourism trips.

Great video as always! I'm going to Java, Bali and Lombok during the wet season (dec and jan); any specific places you recommend to stay in Bali where there's good intermediate waves without the polution (I've had people telling me that spots such as Canggu - not that I was planning on going there - are very poluted due to the river mouths near those spots)? Keep it up!
@dncrht5 ай бұрын
Canggu waters during rainy season are filthy, aim for south Bukit eg: Nyang Nyang
@DanHarmon1235 ай бұрын
Hey mate!! Yeah Canggu defo gets dirty with the rivers. You should be okay down on the Bukit (on smaller days), but Lombok would be a better shout as an intermediate! I stayed at a place called Aldi Homestay in Kuta Lombok-pretty cool spot!

Wow in a couple of years crowds have ruined surfing with crowds comes aggression and fights. I live in the philippines and the surf is inconsistent which in the past was a good thing as this meant few travellers would risk wasting there time and money gambling on getting surf.but times have changed the surf is packed with at times no surf and still 30 to 40 people out with no waves no whitewater to be seen I am serious surfing isn't a sport here it's a scene and believe me ask anyone that's been the crowd situation is of its head surfing is a business and you tube and bloggers despite what you think are adding to the problem as someone else said Bali is cooked and the rest of Indonesia is on the burner go look for yourself and if there is somewhere uncrowded just watch it change with a blog or 2
@DanHarmon1235 ай бұрын
Yeah Bali is full on!! But dont' worry, there are plenty of lesser known places still out there... I'll be keeping them off KZbin though haha ;)

There are alot of snitches online but dan is def not one of them. Proof that you can make surf travel content without spoiling secret spots. The biggest threat to surfing is the industry, the wsl and brands keep saying 'the sport needs to grow' just so they can make more money.
