Thank you so much for this powerful tutorial. The “bug” from the Model D bass is just the preset: somewhere in the preset there is some hidden “hold” when you play notes, keeping the last one playing even when you don’t touch anything; it happens when you use the app in standalone too. I found a way to fix it but I don’t remember at the moment how I did it :)

Hi there.... how can i adjust the octave notes on the piano screen. I am using a typing keyboard. So its just on low notes by default

Been using Stagelight (paid) on Windows and Android for years. I hope Roland doesn't mess it up.

You forget the best part of Zenbeats. You can use Roland Cloud inside this DAW, so all virtual Roland instruments from the Jupiter to Juno and TR series etcetera.

If I’m not mistaken you can use Roland Cloud with all Computer DAW. But can you use Roland Cloud with iPad?

ZenBeats in my view is simple to use and can still be powerful. Roland has been working hard to update it since they bought it. Anyway,try it. It is free than if you feel it fits your workflow buy the unlocked version.

Looks as if you’ve been using it for awhile now; just watched you using it with Audiotune and GlitchCore. Are you still liking it? I can see myself using it over Gadget due to AUv3 support. Thanks!

I find ZenBeats to be the fastest way to create for me after Korg Gadget. The fact that is supports AUv3 is major. Roland is updating it really quickly. I still have a wish list but it’s getting shorter and shorter. I’ll have an interview with Roland soon. We will talk about ZenBeats in it.

Nu-Trix The Synth Guy Thanks for the quick reply! The 10.5 update in Logic Pro has reinvigorated things for me. I bought Stagelight, but ultimately I put it aside. Now I’m seriously looking at using it for, sketching and creating ideas along the way,and then finishing and/or mixing the creation in Logic. Great that you’ll have the Roland guy to interview and maybe get their thoughts on Zenbeats. Hope you’ll do more vids, especially with updated features. I appreciate what you do!

I checked again and I can’t find any MIDI export function, only audio mix export. But keep it mind that the app exist on iPad, iPhone, Android, Mac and Windows. You can save online from ZenBeats on iPhone and reload the same song on ZenBeats Mac.

Roland is a pure product sales company. Product support and development is not their concern. They buy competitor products and then ignore them, only to launch a shiny new product to attract more sales. My experience with many of their products is that they ignore and even make it difficult for user development suggestions or collaboration. Stick with reliable and recognized products with long term support for your investment.

I started with cakewalk pro 3 in 1996ish. Upgraded all the way to sonar pro liftime updates only to get screwed over they stopped supporting it and it got given away for free. No ways I will ever pay them for anything again.

Good product. Decent price considering how much you get and the quality. I foresee improvements to the engine, but for my ears it's fine as it is. Maybe I'm lucky to not have a great ear. The interface takes getting used to, but it's worth it to take the time to learn. I wouldn't get the mega version for all platforms right away. The good news is that the full ios version is not expensive. This app is great for the fun seeking people, not professionals. The pros will go with Auria Pro for obvious reasons. I don't think it compares to Gadget in any way. I would guess that gadget will be much more popular because it doesn't compete with anything really, but why am I comparing like that. Silly me. I don't see too many new videos on Auria, which surprises me considering that it has everything and is at the top as far as quality and has every pro feature on earth. Think of something you can do on a desktop daw like protools or reaper and Auria does it, and well. I agree about the cross platform convenience of zenbeats, But with Auria you can do everything with your iPad Pro and send your final mix to a laptop for mastering if you don't trust one of the iOS mastering apps. I truly think with Auria you can track and mix any genre and any number of tracks. Several years ago I watched a video of a professional song made that way in a studio. All these other apps are good for many things but none of them come close to Auria as a protools replacement to track and mix. I will conclude that if someone wants to go far to create professional sounding mixes tbat they shouldnt waste any time and money and go right away with Auria Pro. It's not cheap but cheaper than buying every other similar app thinking Auria is too expensive. I say buy Auria right away and end up saving a lot in the long run because you won't need to try anything else. Sorry for such a long comment but I can't get my point across in shorter terms. That's me. Have fun. Winter is coming.

Hi Perry, you are right about Auria Pro. In my view it is the best app for mixing on the iPad. The features are on par or better than most computer DAWs. Personally I do not get inspired by the Auria Pro interface for music creation and production. But that is me. For creation I prefer DAWs like #Gadget, #Beatmaker, #NanoStudio2, #Zenbeats, but none of them offer a pro mixing experience in my view. Don't get me wrong they are not bad, but they do not offert what I expect to have control over when finishing a mix for a pro release. I approach my music production in 3 phases : phase 1 : creation (in Gadget, Nanostudio, Beatmaker, ZenBeats ... ) + hardware, Phase 2 : recording / bouncing all the tracks. Phase 3 : mixing and mastering (in Auria Pro, using FabFilter plugin). That is why a Stem export feature or a separate track export feature in a DAW is a blessing in my view. Thanks for the comment. It pushes the discussion further and helps people have a better global understanding of music production options.

Nu-Trix The Synth Guy i totally agree with you. My point is more about production. Most successful music producers use laptops and daws like protools. Why are IOS music producers avoiding that. Are they trying to get away without using an app like that? Is it too intimidating for them and not enough fun? There are so many videos on production with protools style apps on laptops by successful mixers, but nothing on Auria. That tells me that IOS still has a long way to go to not need a laptop to complete things. IOS is still a portable tablet to create quick loops and parts of songs. I think a iPad Pro can do it all, but only if Auria is in the story. I know you use it and others too but no one does tutorials to show it as part of their work flow. It might be the toughest part of the process and no one seems to ask. I don't get it.

@@Nu-trix This is always the dilemma isn't it... at first it seems ideal to do all tasks in ONE software, and on a computer. Then it seemed to me, maybe use one DAW for production, the other for mixing. Now I am trying all sorts of hardware again - not just MPC, but also old stuff, like sequencers from the 90s. Funny thing is, I like what I can pump out quickly from my Maschine setup... I guess it's not always so rewarding though! (or the same with something like LoopCloud - Studio One is a powerhouse for using loops, so quick to extract key, match a bassline to it, etc. - but do I really want to always produce like that? nah...)

Yes, in the actual version there is quantize while recording in real time or for the recorded sequences.

It is a DAW more like Beatmaker then Gadget (AU) plugins and all. That also has multi platform OS transfer (more like Gadget) it all depends on your workflow!

AJ Booster what about Auria Pro. Why do I see so many lists nit include the best one by far. Why exclude the only iOS app that can replace protools. Auria has amazing everything, even a great synth.it is so powerful. Why did you not mention it? Is it the price. It's actually cheaper than buying all the others that Auria replaces.

I’m not sure if the deadline for asking the transfert of license as been passed? If I remember well, In the email I got from OpenLabs they were talking about a deadline 60-90 days or so. Write to OpenLabs maybe?
