Best time to start is now! Can't get enough reps of this! We don't have any videos specifically on the transfer from grounders, but we will in the near future! Thanks for commenting, and good luck! ~Michael Pro Speed Baseball

Love it man. I kept fighting through my glove while my body and feet were moving ahead, which would wind up with me often just holding the ball being afraid I was going to throw it away. Great vid and tip!

Great video, just wondering what could help me have a quick transfer on a ground ball. (I play shortstop for the high school) and I just want to have a quick nice clean transfer, so my mechanics look good for when scouts come. Thank you

+OFSGKTA Skateforlife Thanks for comment! The transfer on a ground ball is very important, however, quickness in the infield is found mainly through proper footwork and infield mechanics. An extra step here, an extra pat there and we're losing ground. Unfortunately I don't have any videos out just yet on infield mechanics. But to give you a rough idea: In sequence when the ball gets to you: 1. Right foot then left foot 2. Receive ball on left side of stance (just left of center) 3. Trap ball with both hands and bring directly to center chest. 4. While bring ball to center chest shuffle heel to heel 1 TIME and throw. Again, I know it's a rough explanation, but if executed correctly, an average arm guy can make plays at any level. Hope this helps out. If you have any other questions on this or anything else, please feel free to let us know! ~Michael Pro Speed Baseball

Great tip on the Milan suggestion of not closing the glove on the transfer and simply deflecting the ball to the throwing hand. As far as tucking the thumb so if the hand gets hit it does not damage it if the hand gets hit you are getting injured either way - fingers or thumb so won’t make a difference.

Great coach, you explain very well. My son loves watching your videos. You must have had some middle infield experience, do you have any double play footwork dills like the slide across 2nd base?
@henrymichael819 жыл бұрын
Maybe you can make a video about infield communication. Like when and what should the shortstop and 2nd be discussing before the pitch in different situations (who is taking the throw who's covering) . what should 2nd and 1st be talking about, and the different ways pros use to communicate both verbal and nonverbal. Thanks

henrymichael81 Thanks for the request! I'll go ahead and put it on the list. Great subject for a video considering how important it is for the middle infielders to be on the same page. ~Michael Pro Speed Baseball

I love this video. It really cracked me up. I’m thinking a pancake glove could help too. Question, at what age do catchers put there fist behind the glove.... I’m coaching 19,11 and 12 year olds... And if they hide there hand behind there ankles, by any chance have you ever had a video on the quick release using that youth method? I have two coaches telling me that even some pros even hide there hands behind there body’s... I’m a little surprised because hiding behind the mitt seems like a huge advantage but I never caught and with kids I can see where it can be a little more dangerous for them... Any thoughts would be appreciated. Hope all is well. ~DM

Michael, I help coach my 9 year old daughter's softball team and your batting videos have been very helpful. Some of our girls are hitting to the green now applying some of your techniques... I was wondering if you could do a video on proper footwork/positioning on the bases when receiving the ball. Thanks.

We don't have any videos specifically on receiving from infield or outfield, we do have a beginner catching video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hZncZZuFmst3rpY We are backed up on video requests, but we'll definitely put it on the list. In the mean time, if you have any questions or if there's anything we can do to help out, just let us know! ~Michael Pro Speed Baseball

I catch and play middle this video was really helpful for when I play middle infield. But when I catch I have to squeeze the glove, is that ok? @Pro Speed Baseball
@ProSpeedBaseball8 жыл бұрын
That's perfectly fine, the only thing that matters is the time it takes to get rid of the ball. In my experience "batting" the ball into the throwing hand has been the fastest being as it takes less time to "not close the glove hand." But as long as you're getting guys out, you're good to go! ~Michael Pro Speed Baseball

Is a 11 1/2 glove good for a second baseman?
@ProSpeedBaseball8 жыл бұрын
+Above Shotz Thanks for the question! Yes, 11 1/2 inch glove is a great length for an infield position. However, it is always up to the player. Some guys prefer shorter gloves and some guys prefer longer ones. Whatever works best for you! If you have any other question on this or anything else, just let us know! ~Michael Pro Speed Baseball

I can see my son struggles to get a good grip on the ball. Given that it is important to be very quick out of the glove, does it really matter how you're holding the ball? Do the laces have to be facing a certain direction? That seems to be a luxury that time will not allow. What is your experience with this?
@bweags41947 жыл бұрын
JediFight as your son continues to play ball and just develop the muscle memory he'll find the right grip more easily. In my case, Ive always thrown with the 4 seam grip, so now when I transfer, I'm at the point now where it's just second nature to find those laces very quickly and get rid of the ball. Practice makes perfect! So just keep throwing the ball around and getting him used to finding the right grip quickly (I recommend four seam). It should come with time. Hope this helps!

+Slimy Slapper Nice attention to detail! However, the wrist guard is designed to work on either side of the wrist. Top side for hitting, bottom side for defense.
