My son throws left. Are there any videos for lefty field approach??
@AntonelliBaseball5 ай бұрын
@@nolanator4953 you can pretty much just flip everything I say and do it the opposite and that will work for a lefty

This is amazing to watch the differences. Do you have the links to the drills to make this happen?

I was taught on how to field ground balls properly when I was 13 our coaches taught us to field the ball in front of you with your butt up and chest out and bring that glove up to your chest. But I was taught to start moving your feet while the pitcher is in his wind up or stretch position. Our coaches taught us the creep which means that you are on the balls of your feet and you start moving towards home plate. You don't want your infielders or outfielders to be flat footed because the ball will play them and that's the last thing that you want. But also our coach would take the flat piece of a ping pong paddle and make it into a glove and we would field ground balls with the flat piece of a ping pong paddle. But what that would do is make their hands quicker from glove to hand transfer but only use it as a drill or make them field the ball with their bare hands but make them shuffle their feet while fielding the ground balls. I know this because I've been fortunate to play for coaches that played pro or college and so with that my baseball knowledge is rich

Thanks Matt. Not enough people talk about how to move through the ball. You mention the flamingo drill.. what is that?

When should the infielder start moving? After the pitch or before the pitch?

I like your videos, but I'd like to see instructional videos that use left handed players too, if possible. I've been coaching my 6 yr old grandson who did 1 season of t-ball and is now in his 2nd season of coach pitch baseball. Although he's only 6, he's a switch hitter and does well on both sides. But he's left-handed, and when he watches drills before we try them, it would be nice to have a left-handed player on screen. Thank you!😊

@@lorrainekeohuloa8386 I would just tell him to do the opposite footwork of what I say. The reason we don’t show lefties is because 99% of infielders are right handed. Other than the footwork, everything is the same.

Personally, I would never give a kid that you are trying to correct a video of their teammate...
