I really wish I came from a musical family! Trying to learn all this stuff as an adult with a full time job and other responsibilities is hard.

Wow! Been tinkering for 2 years are so and have always played by ear never new my notes and this by far is the easiest method. God bless you. I just keep in mind that E&B are the only ones without #.

Too right Daric. I play by ear. When I put my mind to it, I know the notes, but while I'm playing, I actually don't! 😵 So I simply memorize first bass note on every song and play from memory.

I'm 49 and starting at this point. I've been looking for all the A notes ...there is 8......7 B notes etc. That's another different way to memorize.

I have 5 days to learn how to see the notes on the sheet on the fretboard. I can read music, I can read bass clef. I just don't know how to read music and place it on the fret 😭

You don't need to come from a musical family all you need is the instrument you desire to play in a couple of lessons and you'll get it have faith in yourself watch KZbin on the instrument you love and I guarantee if you're passionate about it you will learn in a matter of months

is there a 'better' way to refer to flat/sharp notes? i find most sheet music, for example, uses flats. i never see an A# chord, rather it is Bflat. important professionals like daric using 'sharp' confuses me.

The rule is if your moving up the scale it's sharp, the inverse is flat.

Lol, 😁 he learned the A string first, and then he learned the E string first... I wonder if he also learned the D string and G string first... 😅 Not a good teaching video imo, there are much better ones out there. Got my bass (5 string Cort) a few weeks ago. Music College videos are pretty good. Which bass have you got and how is your learning going?
