Quick WING Tips - How to DAW Recording Ep 2 - console Inputs & Outputs Overview

Hi Guillaume I use cubase 11, during the mix I use the Steinberg Supervision plugin! If I click on the controls of the Cubase control room, for example I switch from stereo to mono listening, Super vison displays through the Panorama screen that the sound coming out of the control room is displayed and listened to in mono then in the center, if I perform a pan a left the signal is displayed on the left, ditto if I click on Dim to decrease the signal of the counter room from 0db to -18 db! But using the mouse every time is inconvenient, so I would like to use the physical buttons in the Monitoring I have done several tests, but the result is always the same Whether I move the analysis plugins to the Master Out, or move it to Cubase's Monitors or Main, the result is always the same, i.e .: I hear what I do on the signal, but measuring instruments such as Supervision do not show what I am hearing! I click on Dim from Wind, the listening signal goes down but Supervision doesn't show any change, I click on the Mono button of Wing, but Supervision always shows the signal in stereo instead of Mono! I perform a Pan to the left, same problem Supervision always shows the signal in the center instead of the left! The problem is not Supervision, because with any analysis plugins the behavior is the same! Whether I use Supervision, Paz analyzer, Pure analyzer etc ...... My doubt is that maybe I have wrong routing from cubase to wing or vice versa, because I hear the signal changes in the direction, such as switching from stereo to mono or panning the signal to the right or left, but I would like all this to be displayed in time also real about the analytics plugins I use In conclusion I would like to use the physical Dim, Mono / Stereo buttons of Wing's Monitor section to control the control room of cubase 11 Thanks for any info

Yes it is. anything that has AES-50 that can clock at 48K will work

Thanks Guillaume, great tutorial. Simple, easy to understand and helpful. Keep them coming. Here's a Q: Can you add additional audio tracks to an existing Wlive recording? When hitting the record button, a new take (recording) is always created automatically. So basically, each recording made is final. Is there away around this? (However, I'm aware that playing a Wlive recording, can be routed into your DAW).

Hi! WLive recording are a ‘’ one take ‘’ it’s design to record live performances of a live band. with no possible over dub on the console it self. but any DAW can do that over your WLive files

So after all of that this thing does not have a place where you can just plug in your guitar direct, it that correct?

@@UtwoBed it’s has combo jack inputs that are Line level… it will work but you may have impedance problems.

I have one question: Is it possible to use Aux 7+8 for both headphones and studio monitors, as you recommend, but retain independent control of the headphone level and monitor level in the Talkback/Monitor section? Looking forward to your more in-depth REAPER tutorial with Mr. Maillot! I got his software, and I want to see how to set it up right!

I’m not in front of my console but ain’t the Phone and Monitor volume pots on the left side of the console work independently?

When I have both my monitors and my headphones on Aux 7+8, the Headphones knob changes the volume on both and the Monitor knob seems to be inactive.

After a lot of trials and errors, I realize that the XLR's right under the Aux Outs are called "Local Out". NOW, I have independent control of the Headphones and Studio Monitors. So, in the end, I have my Headphones assigned to Aux 7+8, and my Studio Monitors assigned to Local Out 7+8, and I still have the TRS Aux 7+8 open for putting a headphone mixer. It was rough going to get to this point, but every dumbass, newbie mistake I make is another learning experience, and confidence-builder!

@@PureRock777 aux 7-8 will be a duplicate of your headphone/solo. try to use the other one for your headphones mix with Bus sends

@@GuillaumeLortie Yeah, eventually, if I start using the WING in a situation when I need more than one headphone mix. Right now, it's just me and some tracks to record bass on. My initial headphone mixer idea was so somebody could come over and hear things on their own headphones if they aren't used to my headphones or monitors... Anyway, thank you very much for your advice!

send it to your usb outputs like any other mic pre amp. your computer will see it like any other inputs

@@GuillaumeLortie let me expand on this I still sent o be having an issue. I have an aux from a phone connected to my local in 1 and 2 on the board. While I have my band connected to the stage box. I’m on logic trying to record the live set but I can’t seem to map my aux input to a Chanel input in logic. How did I go about that .

@@AnuEletu Hi Anu, In your USB send ( Outputs Group ) make sure you have your local Inputs 1-2 assign to a USB output. it’s all happening in the Routing menu / Outputs
