This is really good, I am currently studying to be a bookkeeper + Payroll advisor and surprisingly enjoying it, but its this type of content I needed to find, bc how do we enjoy it all, but then need to take testing and what to know before you get there, right? BC Intuit has a way of asking you questions in a different way, but applies to the topic in several different ways, so if you misstep you could get it wrong even thought you know the answer on HOW you learned it the the training. We all need a hands-on approach to learning QBO, there are tons of lessons on how to do it, but ACTUALLY doing it with no clients can be a bit of a tricky thing. So this video is great to put us in the mindset of what to expect - at the very least... YOu can usually take to clients very intelligently, but putting the skills into ACTION is the next step we need to fail and learn from so we get it right.

You are absolutely right. Experience is key. I’m struggling through this proadvisor training big time. Sooooo wordy and tricky - I feel like I’d learn it better just going through the motions myself. No way will I pay anyone to train me with my bookkeeping skills I got learning through my husbands business ☺️ thank you for your reassuring words. Taking my time with this for sure

Thank you for being so real. I feel like everyone is just trying to sell me something for thousands of dollars. I'm ok with starting small cuz I just want to do this on the side. I feel like I'm getting swindled with other videos and it's honestly turning me off to the community :/. Also thank you for being real about not passing everything in your first go!! This whole video is just so real and I appreciate it!!

Girl! Yes! Expensive. I think they market on the desperation to get several clients quickly. Honestly, I'm just starting out and I think too many too soon is scary. I have time to grow slowly, so I'm gonna go it alone and make my mistakes one at a time.

I really think we have the same personality type! I have done a lot of research myself and found many options for certification or training programs but none to give you a really good step by step. As you said, I think it just comes with experience which can be scary! I would really love to find a bit more walkthroughs or in depth on the fundamentals needed for daily work life as a bookkeeper. I don’t like starting anything feeling like I’m not knowledgeable enough.

Can you provide the link to the program you used in your description box and the cost related to the program? I was slightly informed about a pro-advisor program via QB and I’m having a hard time understanding what it entails exactly but it sounds like you may be referring to it here as you mentioned a QB certificate.
@RealisticBookkeeping3 жыл бұрын
I can definitely add the link in my video description, thanks for mentioning that! But the program I used walks you through how to become a certified ProAdvisor through QuickBooks. As a company QuickBooks offers ProAdvisors to small business owners to help them do their bookkeeping, that might be what you're referring to!

I'm an aspiring freelancer and I just started taking the training and I'm stacked in Module 2 (9/11) Understanding Client Needs on the Knowledge Check asking what should I mark as Yes in the Sales and Receivables items for the Needs Assessment Tab Client Checklist. I don't seem to get the correct answer and I cannot proceed. As I understand in the Client Checklist you mark Yes depending on what the client is practicing, so since "Dan VA ( the client) has no system yet I just selected "Sales Receipts and many other guesses but always having it incorrect and with the note that Client isn't selling physical products and bill his customers in full. Can you help me what is the correct answer? Appreciate your help.

Do you know if you can set up a test company on your own in OBO without getting charged? I had purchased QBO Practice set by Michelle Long and used that as practice for OBD. It helped me. If I can create a test company of my own for free on OBO I think I am going to do the same. Thanks again!
@RealisticBookkeeping3 жыл бұрын
Yes! This is a great question! There is a practice company that the online QuickBooks program uses for you to play around with creating expenses, vendors, etc. I think it's called Craig's Landscaping (my memory is failing me), but there definitely is a practice account. Plus, I've heard of a lot of people doing this own person budgeting in QBO as an accountant to practice their bookkeeping skills with the QBO software :)

Is the certification test open book? You mentioned that you studied first and then did the module to match.I How long do they give you to take the test? When did you final finish the test?
@RealisticBookkeeping3 жыл бұрын
Yes, it is technically open book, as you can go into the module in another tab to check your answers. The exam sections weren't timed and it took me about 15 minutes to complete each section exam, maybe a little longer if i was being SUPER careful answering a couple of questions. I earned my certification at the end of October 2020

Thank you so much for your honesty & down-to-earth approach in this video! This is the second video of yours that I watched. It's like you were in my room & my mind hearing my thoughts & concerns. I finished a bookkeeping course & the quizzes - 16 modules & 16 quizzes, 2 days ago. At the end of the course, there was an assessment. Somehow, I misunderstood what this assessment was. I expected it to be an assessment of what I thought of the course & the instructor, what I learned, what else I would have liked to see, etc. Wrong! This was the final. So I went to fill it out, (still thinking it was 'my assessment' of the class), and realized my mistake. Lol. Too late, I was in it, so I had to finish it. I am relieved to say, I got an 84%, and you have to have at least an 80%, so, I passed. Whew! Anyway, I've really been struggling with self-doubt and worrying that I'm not ready and don't know enough to do a great job for my clients. After watching your videos today, and hearing you talk about having those same questions, I feel so much better. I had planned to take the Quickbooks Online Accountant course, but was waivering until I watched this video. Now, I've decided, for sure, I'm gonna do it. Thank you for helping me to kick my fears out of my way! By the way, your other video I watched, was the one about 'failing' and coming full circle. Great & supportive! I will be checking out your other videos & look forward to seeing more of your journey. Best wishes & thanks again. Shannon
