Ahh thankyou, I’m in the bizarre scenario where I have an accountancy qualification but can’t yet do the job, which is embarrassing. I was just getting to grips with basic concepts and I passed and the course was over. I can’t afford tutors so this is really helpful. If you could do as many visually orientated practical step by step videos of what a bookkeeper does I’d be eternally grateful.

Your videos and content are so helpful! I am starting up my own bookkeeping business but for the past few months have been working for another bookkeeper, helping with her clients and learning as I go. One suggestion: since you pay your client’s quickbooks subscriptions for them, you should create an expense for the $7 quick books subscription fee and mark it as billable to client as a direct client expense. Then attach it to their invoice. This way at the time the expense is accrued, quick books remembers for you that you need to bill the client for this expense and you don’t have to remember to add it on later to their invoice.

Hi Rachel, you should put together a course on this very topic. Like with printables and things. I have been trying to get started ever since you posted your first video on youtube. Hey Rachel, I’ve heard a lot of other bookkeeping KZbinrs suggest doing this for practice, and to use your personal bank account if you haven’t started your business yet. So my question is this, if I sync my personal finances to practice can I un-sync them or delete those accounts once I’m ready to actually add my business bank account ??? I’m so stressed about it becoming something messy later on that I’m stuck not doing anything 🤷♀️

Hi Rachel, I took your advice and linked my person acct to QBO so I could practice. Once I was finished, I deleted or disconnected my personal bank account. I thought that all of the information from my account was gone but it left a checking and savings account balance on the chart of accounts and I can't figure out how to get ride of it. I was planning on using this QBO account for my bookkeeping business but now that it is showing a balance in a savings and checking account, and also an opening balance equity, I'm afraid to do that. I made the savings and checking account "inactive" but it still shows a balance on the "opening balance equity." Any ideas how to get rid of that balance info?

So with reconciliation, where is interest earned or service charges? Is that just included in the balance now? Typically you input that information when reconciling.

Is there anyone outside US who is doing QBO?
@SCGirlBoss3 ай бұрын
Everyone always asks what we want to see so let me tell you what would be soooo valuable... If you could create/provide some fake documents that we could actually input and follow along and then take us through the steps, THAT would be valuable. For someone just starting out, we need material to use to actually input and then know that we've done it correctly and then use that info to create reports and compare our reports to what you've provided so we can see how it's supposed to look and verify that we've done it correctly. Then, take use through the reconciliation process using the fake documents. PLEASE, PLEASE, SOMEONE DO THIS FOR US BEGINNERS.

Also, do clients usually want to give your their banking info to link to your Quickbooks or do they like to give paper statements?

There's a little bit of both. Some people have paper copies of everything and that's just the way they operate. Others are all about sharing information online and have no reservations about giving you an accountant login to their accounts.

There is nothing wrong with using rules as long as you set them up correctly. That's where people can easily make mistakes though--by not fully understanding how the rules affect what QBO does with data.
