These are not transactions. They are documents that record in to QuickBooks the details of the contract for the job or project that you track the progress invoicing for. Thank you very much 1st let me tell you that at least most of what you need will be from the full playlist if you click in the top right of this video you will get the link to the entire playlist where you can start from the beginning and follow in proper order step-by-step and see that you have oil or most of what you need. Secondly, it is normal for a contractor to use excel in addition to quickbooks, but not only for record keeping but for calculating things that you need to plan for your projects. You only need the most basic Excel for most of the contractor planning things you need and there are too many basic XL tutorials here on KZbin for me to have to bother making them for anyone. It's super easy and I'm sure you can self teach. You might need from me other playlists like General common tools that all types of companies need besides QuickBooks and you can get all of those from the main Channel page or just by asking me. Things like bank reconciliation or sales tax are things that I have videos for that help everyone if they apply to you. I hope you will click like after watching each one and subscribe. Mark

Hi, thanks for your informative videos. In the video above, you have electrical works, replace parts listed as services attached to income account with quantities of 25. I wanted to know what components constitute of a service like electrical works? Does it include things like cost of electrical wires, profit mark-up?

The items on the items list can be anything you want In your particular case you have to figure out what to list on the invoices that you sent to your client and how you want those items tracked to an income account that works for you when you look at your own profit and loss What I gave was only an example and you can decide for yourself how to put the items that you build a client and how to track them in as income The truth is that coming this fall I'm going to make a video about this topic using the examples from the American architecture Association regarding the sections that usually go on a contract between a contractor and a client You can choose your own income accounts and make the items that come from the American Association of Architects to become the items on your items list and if there are two items in the same category you can use the description field to get more specific when you explain it on an estimate or an invoice

Hi Mark, can you help me? I created an estimate and have been making linked invoices as the job progresses. In the last invoice I sent and received a payment for, I realized that I didn't pull down the customer JOB and it was only under the customer name. I am in projects and the invoice does show up under projects, but I want to correct the invoice customer/JOB but it is attached/linked to the original estimate and I don't want to make a big mess. It wants to unlink from the estimate like it never existed? I was thinking...should I: 1. Undo the check payment 2. Delete the linked invoice 3. Recreate a new linked invoice with the correct "job" under the customer 4. Receive payment to the new correct invoice. I need confirmation or instruction on this one. The customer is able to see and view the old invoice, so I think I need to call them and explain my adjustment. Any advice is appreciated! Thanks, Mark!

Why can't you just re-open the invoice and change the name to the correct job? Isn't that the original problem? Did you try that? -Mark

If you go to the channel page there is a small playlist that sets up for contractors and in the setup contractor playlist for desktop, what are the video shows you how to customize forms and you can do it with that video. I'm at the phone so I don't have the link but if you go to the channel page and look for the basic introduction category of playlist you'll see the setup for contractors and the video will be there
