Hello to all my contractor friends using QuickBooks online. This video is will explain to you everything about managing the products and services that you need to list on an estimate and the following job invoices when you bill your clients as the work on the contract is being done. QuickBooks desktop calls this list the “items list”. If you set them up the way it is shown in this QuickBooks video lesson, then they will help you track your income in to the proper income accounts. @@brandonwilliams9085 You can! After you actually PAy the costs or sel, you can open reports that show the sales by items. Look at the report that shows "sales by item detail".

Is there a way to add the line to assign to a product/service without creating an invoice? For example, we are a small building company, i don't create invoices for our payees. I just write checks. So if i want to add it ABC Electrical, the only thing QBO gives me is a "category" line item, none of which pull from my items list that i used on the desktop version. So i have no way of adding " electrical rough in" to the check and no way to put it towards a specific job. being forced to make the switch from desktop to online by QB has really put me in a bind. I was on chat with QB yesterday for over 4 hours and they were still not able to help me..

If you click on the right top corner of the video you will see the link to the full playlist that you need to watch in proper order for better understanding. Hi, do you have a method for using estimates with products/services while implementing the Completed Contract Method? I'm wondering how to get the products/services to feed to the balance sheet instead of a revenue account(s). Then, how do you release it to the income statement and still have the level of detail from the estimate? In other words, how do I use several products/service lines to see the detail of each one throughout the process from balance sheet to income statement once the work is finished. Hope that makes sense, I'm still trying to wrap my head around it. Thank you.
