What I am hearing from your very good analysis, as a small church is under 200 members, Quickbooks online is the preferred path for our accounting needs. Unless you have some software recommendations more specific to a church environment. Very good analysis. Thank you!

I moved my operating system and applications, including Quickbooks 2009, from an old PC with Windows 10 to a new PC with Windows 10 using Laplink's PCmover. Everything went smoothly but for Quickbooks, it broke -- on both computers it was basically wiped out. I reinstalled it on my new PC. However, I was locked out of my file is it required 2009 Release 15. I called Quickbooks as I couldn't find it online. They said I would need to buy a later version as they no longer support my version. This is basically a forced upgrade, which I consider theft.

Here in UK. Support for desktop is being with drawn in January 2023. I have not seen any note that the 2021 version will be supported for three years as I believe you have mentioned in one of your videos.

My accountant stoped the payroll service and asked the clients to start using a payroll service company. But QB no longer offers payroll for desktop, I had to use the online version for payroll only.

For desktop, when entering on an invoice from the items list, can that popup columns be customized? It shows irrelevant columns and needs to show the price and vendor.

I know this is a late post, but just found this video and having the same issue of deciding. But what I can tell, the basic version of QB online is around 25 dollars, which has very limited uses. while QB desktop, seems like the version will last 3 years before its outdated and no longer supported. price wise is 399.00 / 36 months is around 11-12 dollars a month with full capability. I am struggling with my small business, spending around 80 bucks to get access to inventory is hard to justify for the online version. I would like to know my profit for sales but online just lets me place items on a invoice without the difference between my cost, and the sale cost. But i can get all of this with the desktop version, which comes out to be 11-12 bucks a month till I have to upgrade to the newest desktop version.

I just posted a question for Hector re: my our new amazon seller bus, which route to go, in the next 2 weeks I need to choose appropriate accouting software to enter data, I have the qb 2013Pro version it served me well in the past for construction projects however I was wondering if its wise to use this version for the amazon seller bus or if its best to upgrade (I am trying to avoid the inline versions/montly fees etc) let me know if you have any inputs on this thanks!

So we have been using Desktop version for 20 years. Latest version is 2020 Premier Contractor Edition. We decided to make a move to Online version. What a big mistake for us. Unfortunately, the estimates, purchase orders, etc lost lots of features including the ability to create mark ups on our estimates. We have our costs plus mark up percentage in our estimate, when approved, we send a purchase order to our vendor or in house HOWEVER this feature is gone with the online version and has been a problem since 2018 that has not been addressed by intuit (per several forums we read through) any suggestions?

I just had to switch from desktop to online and so far I am completely lost. It is so different. I was told I only needed the simple version but have already come up against the issue that I can't add custom fields to my invoice which does not even have the option of a Purchase Order Number field???? I can't submit an invoice without one. That is just the tip of the iceberg so far.

Wow I can’t believe that we have a tiny little company and my desktop version was so easy to just add some little fields in there job estimates and invoices I don’t know if I can afford $200 a month. Unfortunately, my operating system on my laptop does not support the newest desktop version of QuickBooks. Do you know if QuickBooks is going to discontinue the desktop version in the US like it is going to in the UK.

Great Vid, midway through, I thought I'd post my question just in case its not covered. :-) I am trying to avoid online version / monthly pmts etc I own quickbooks Pro 2013 which I loved for my construction bus in the past. I haven't used for a while. QUESTION: for Amazon seller bus, (we just started 2 1/2 mo ago and already hit 10K for the last 30 days doing arbitrage/replenishment), soon going in pv arena with goals to grow it exponentially. In the next 2 weeks I need to choose my accounting software to use. Thats a rumor… very unlikely to happen. BUT they did do it in UK, so its not 100% implausible. They have to many customers in desktop still so it should live longer
