Hi Ashkar, I haven't found free online books (pdf) with the same topic but our site is all about Construction Bookkeeping and Accounting (www.fasteasyaccounting.com/) with hundreds of related article. Just type it in our Search Bar and something useful to your research could come up.

so is their any way you might have found or heard of to adjust quickbooks to the construction & manufacturing types of businesses

Hi Dave, Generally Construction Accounting uses Work-In-Progress and does not track inventory. Manufacturing Accounting uses Work-In-Process and tracks inventory including assemblies. The two have a lot in common but not quite the same. Does that answer your question? If not please let me know and I will do my best to reply. Warm Regards, Randal

Hello Alex, QuickBooks released in 1991 as a business version of Quicken with a Chart of Accounts and Cost Codes. We started using it in March 1991 to replace a large Construction Accounting package. If you are smart you will stay away from quickbooks and go with another construction accounting company. Quickbooks is poorly designed (with a flawed data base) and it has TERRIBLE customer service.
