Just a piece of filter foam dampens the flow for my betta on this Aqueon 3 filter in a 1.5 gallon tank.

I have been looking everywhere for a baffle for my bettas tiny filter! I kept finding the plastic bottle baffles and it is just too big. Thank you for this!!!

Sometimes the answer is so simple, we overlook it! Glad to be of help, and I am sure your betta is thankful, too.

When you took the sponge thing away your betta looked up like “wtf?” Cool idea. Is it a sponge or a filter thing? I’m new to bettas.

Bits of sponge or filter media should work. I even use a silk plant frond bent over the outflow on a Nano tank with built in filter.

I had to order online for the blue/white media, but since I use it a lot in my filters it was worth buying a lot of it. But truly, any spongy material should work. I hate seeing bettas looks as if they are in a wind tunnel, a flag fluttering in the breeze. It's too hard on them.

czygyny I ended up buying a three pack of white fluval sponges. It was pretty cheap and did the trick! I like it a lot better than a water bottle like I’ve seen as a diy.

It ls for beneficial bacteria to grow on to help with the water cycle of the tank and it helps diffuse the filter water so it dosent make a current. Bettas dont like current they live in puddles and ponds, for anyone still wondering. All this persons replys are gone and they haven't posted since... so I figured I'd answer for them.
