Great video, I debated using the thread sealant and this helped me make the decision to use the thread tape.

Great video, good to see someone have the same struggles with the QuickJack that I did! (and yes I also trashed the thread sealant and went with ol reliable thread tape). FYI for anyone watching this video in the future - the 5000 SLX and the newer 5000 TL are DIFFERENT lengths and the 5000TL is shorter. It barely, and I mean barely, supports a C5 Corvette properly. It's ultimately too short and the lift pads will be on the scary edge. I ended up cutting some steel flat bar and adding it outside of the lift pad slots to properly put the weight directly under the lift pucks. Be warned C5 owners!

Bummer I've seen a few videos of people not letting the sealant cure.. I think they should ship them with thread tape again

great video, i was on the fence about getting the SLX and TL, do you think the extra 3 inches that the TL gives is worth the lack of proper fitment, or does the SLX give enough space?

So far it seems that the Slx is gonna work for for most everything I’ll need to do under the car. But hey, more is typically better.

I was an early buyer of the 7000TL. The Quickjacks work ok if you're lucky and get one without a defective air cylinder. If you do get one of those you're screwed - the company will 100% not stand behind their product. They'll claim the air-assist down isn't "necessary to the function of the lift". Really? So if one side has air assist down and the other doesn't, and they drop unevenly, that's safe? And then when the vehicle drops to the ground and one side of the lift goes straight to the full down position while the other... doesn't. You need to wait... and wait... and wait for it to drop with no weight on it. Quickjack will claim this "is normal operation" and that "it will get better over time". If you invest a massive amount of time trying to get them to stand behind their product they will, eventually, after burning through every once of customer goodwill, send out a new cylinder. Yay! Until you get the replacement and the freakin' air side is literally capped off. Like intentionally made unusable. That's not a fix guys. Then they'll claim that the engineers decided the down-assist wasn't necessary and that they've changed the design on future models. But I didn't buy a future model with less functionality. I bought the current model with exactly the functionality I wanted, was promised, and paid for. Oh, and clearly it's not true because 18 months later the new models still have the air cylinder. Whatever. I'm tired of the lies and prevarications - life is too short. I've written off the entire company as another skanky marketing hack with no integrity. I still have the quickjack in my shop, but the company worked very hard to make me regret my purchase and it low-key pisses me off every time I look at it.

Never understood the self assembly… theres no reason for the fitting not to be fitted at the factory… its a cost saving… other similar ‘quick jacks’ come ready with all fittings in place… its just an inconvenience at best or a real hassle as you found. Also leaks in high pressure hydraulics can be deadly if the puncture the skin. Hobbyists shouldn’t be messing with hydraulics
