Just ordered the 7000 lbs model yesterday. Thank you for posting one of the best instructional videos on setting up a Quickjack on KZbin. Now only if you drove a C7 Corvette I'd be able to watch your videos and have well explained instructions to follow for repairs and upgrades.

At 5:34, I don't think you need any tape on that fitting. The design of the fitting seals itself, sort of like a JIC fitting.

Great video and thank you for it! This might be a dumb question but when lifting vehicles with Quickjack do you put your vehicle in neutral or park?
@IanKarr2 жыл бұрын
Not a dumb question at all. The gear doesn't matter...unless what you're doing under the car requires the wheels to move. Most of the cars I raise are manual transmission and usually in first gear.

Thanks for the vid, I had been on the fence regarding getting a QuickJack. I think I may pull the trigger. Has anyone ever told you you sound and look a little like Dan Aykroyd?
@IanKarr4 жыл бұрын
Ha! Yep. Usually when I’m running about 10 pounds heavier than usual. If you don’t have a lift, you’ll wonder how you ever got by without one.
@achristian70152 жыл бұрын
10:33 Well not quite. Full height consumer lifts don't really lift a car high enough if you are 6 ft tall, so yes, I do find them kind of useless because you have to work crouched over. You really need a lift that goes up to about 7 ft. My MaxJax lifts a car 45" and that allows me to sit on a one-foot high plastic stool while working under the car without having to lie on a cold (winter) concrete floor. But yes, I do have 114" to my garage ceiling. Anyway, a nifty little jack. If it were cheaper, I'd buy one to use in the driveway.

Hi Ian...I have a 1974 Ravenna Green 1.8 - 100% original paint (the paint is in very good, but not perfect condition) with 42K documented miles, unmolested motor (orig FI, etc) - but a crusty hell hole - oh well. Your car looks really nice!! Ravenna Green is by far my favorite Porsche color. I want to drop the motor to clean the mess from leaking push rod tubes, and do overall maintenance - including fuel line replacement which I watched your excellent video of also. Does the QuickJack give you enough height to pull the motor/trans out (without the rear valance on)? Thinking of buying one from Costco while they're on sale again for $1,000. Thanks for the excellent series of 914 videos you've done...they are really among the best I've seen - you obviously have a talent for editing in addition to being a 914 craftsman.
@IanKarr5 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much, Chris. I highly recommend the quckjack. get the slx-5000. With the high blocks the engine just about clears. Easy enough to remove the rear valence tho just to be safe. Are you on 914world?
@ChrisXif15 жыл бұрын
@@IanKarr Thanks Ian...I'm going to order a QuickJack today from Costco. Do you think the current sale price of $1,000 a decent price for the SLX5000? And, yes, I'm on 914World, although I've been an absentee for the last bunch of years but am getting back to it again now.

I'd follow QJ's instructions, but for me, I like to tighten when the pressure is forcing fluid out.

Ok so the first 15 or so lifts seems ok no leak and it's working good so ....quickjack should be ok then? Should be no problem? By that I mean I might have tighten some places too tight or too loose during the setup, but so far so good so it's good I guess?

If the car is raising and lowering evenly, and there’s no fluid in the floor, you should be good to go. Call quick jack if you have any questions or concerns...
