** Please note your Anki file locations may have changed, check the manual for the most updated location for your OS: apps.ankiweb.net/docs/manual.... **
This technique should work on Windows, Mac and Linux.
You will need to have a CSV file with the card data you want to upload before you can add audio fields. If you haven't done that yet, reference this video: • Create Anki Cards Quic...
Shortcut to create a tag: CTRL + B
If you hear no sound but you know you saved the audio in the right place, you have named your audio field wrong. Check formatting and capitalization.
Let me know if you have any questions!

at 5:00 she has to press ok several times in order to export the audio. I found a way to avoid it, which may be helpful for you guys. go to edit > preferences > import/export and finally uncheck Show Metadata tags editor before export, now just click ok and you're good to go :)

Absolutely amazing video. You have maximized the integration of importing full Anki decks with audio using free Programs. I have used audacity for many things, but it never occurred to utilize in this way or excel for that matter. Most of all you seamlessly provided detailed process from A to Z. You include all the nuances of everything you are using for the process. You have a great way providing the detailed process, wonderfully, Thank you very much

Great tutorial. I would like to share a discovery that i made whilst creating my sound files using the sound analyser in Audacity. It is not necessary to rename the tags as you delete the one's you don't want. Just delete the unwanted tags and leave the others as they are and export them just as you did. Audacity will automatically name the files, in order, as you want. I haven't tested with files with more than 99 saves, this could be a problem, but I think you'll find this tip well worth exploring. Once again, an excellent tutorial and I hope to see more of your videos.

THIS IS INGENIOUS! I've been using Anki for YEARS and I didn't know I can create cards this way... OMG! I could have saved myself A WHOLE LOT OF TIME if I knew this earlier! But I am very happy I have found this video which makes learning Korean easier:) BTW, I have a tip for you. Don't do English - Japanese translation. Using images to represent the Japanese vocabulary is a lot better. This helps with memory and avoid always having to think in English then to Japanese. Cheers and thank you very much:)

Thank you for the awesome tutorial! On a Mac (and Linux), if you want to generate a quick list of sound files or any other filename just open the terminal and type: ls -al *.mp3|awk '{print"[sound:"$9"]"}' > List_of_Files.txt That will make a new file called List_of_Files.txt that has the files listed in the sound format and you can just paste into your spreadsheet sound column. It works great if you have several hundred files that do not have the same naming convention. You can also change the .mp3 part to whatever file extension you want (.ogg, .wav, etc).

Very useful tutorial thank you very much for your contribution, I would like to ask you a big favor, if you can help me with two questions, 1. It happens to me that I can not make anki cards that have a word in English, Audio, Image, and Meaning in Spanish, all this through the "media import" and the "Import", I think I have done all the steps but I have left clutter, or I duplicate the images, or the audios do not match the card in question, or do not appear the audios and or the cards. 2. When I synchronize the PC with the mobil after having created a deck (when I make manual test decks making card by card), the images are lost and also the audios, and I want to know how to do so that this does not happen .

Amazing tutorial very helpful! It will save me so much time. I like to take an audio sentence have it play at normal speed on a loop then -40 tempo in audacity a few times, then -30 a few times and so on (so that I can shadow the audio at reduced speed) and improve pronunciation as part of an anki card. Is there any way to create such a file efficiently in Audacity? At the moment I'm manually copying and pasting each different speed section in Audacity. It would be amazing if Audacity could do this for me...

hi Languagegirl, are there any ways to quickly import audio files into cards that are already made in Anki? You're so smart
@languagegirl1124
@languagegirl1124 6 жыл бұрын
Nothing like replying 3 months later! You can export any deck you have as a "Notes in Plain Text (.txt)". Open the file in Excel/Libreoffice, and make sure that it opens correctly. If you're having issues, open the file in text editor and copy/paste into Excel, and once you've pasted it use the excel function "Text to Columns" on the "Data" ribbon (google fo rmore info!). Once you've done that, then you should have a file that looks really close to what I have in my youtube video. Add the audio column, follow the steps above, and then when you import it back into Anki, make sure to click the option called "Update Existing Notes when first field matches". This will then only add that new audio column, assuming you didn't change anything else. Hope that helps! I've definitely done this before with some other types of cards and it usually works just fine.

for images, the parentheses are only needed if there is a space in your file name
@caffeinefreemtndew

found this out because I discovered the parentheses weren't needed... until some of my cards wouldn't work, and I was able to view the source code for the image in my card, and it turned out anki was automatically putting parentheses for me, but it was also putting them in any spaces that occurred in the file name, which screwed it up.

You are either not putting your audio in the right file location, or the name for the audio file is wrong. Please make sure you put the audio files in the most recent location, as documented here apps.ankiweb.net/docs/manual.html#files Always check capitalization, spaces, etc with the naming of your audio file in your spreadsheet.

I have cheked Audio ON automatically and when i see the answer but still no luck. I manually added {{Audio}} into a card and it works! But i have 2000+ cards... i can´t add 1 by 1... Any idea? Sorry about my english :)
@languagegirl1124

You need to add {{Audio}} to the card template. Take a card with the template you use in the browser and hit "Cards...". You should have an editor pop up with a front and back card, as well as the formatting behind it. Add {{Audio}} to either the front or the back of the card, and then it will be effective for all of those notes that use this card template. Read more about editing cards here: ankisrs.net/docs/manual.html#cards-and-templates
