Your video helped so much. Lol I was stuck for a second on the simple things since i'm new to this thing so thought i'd help anyone slow as I was lol. Thanks again. @ 4:27 I didn't catch how the formula was copied and pasted. Copied from goggle search: Set up your formula in the top cell, position the mouse in the lower right-hand corner of the cell until you see the plus, and double-click. Note that this option can copy the formula down as far as Excel finds data to the left. If you have row headers or other data in place, Excel continues to copy the formula.

you dont need the formula if all your starred words are from one language to another, for example all from english to german, just copy the two columns in the text file Also when saving your .txt file make sure that the encoding is selected to UTF-8. the mp3 folder is here : C:\Users\JohnSmith\AppData\Roaming\Anki2\addons\awesometts\.cache ..... don't batch create mp3 but let them be (automatically) created as you study one by one so that there is at least a second between each, then use FileRenamer to name them with incremented numbers, after having clicked on 'date of creation' sorting.

This was very useful, but on my windows PC that little notebook isn't anywhere to be seen in June 2023. I eventually found that clicking on "saved" (between History and Contribute, at the bottom of the screen), the saved items appear on the right as in the video, then there's an icon which looks like a black flag with a white cross (between sort and three dots near top) to click so you can export to Google sheets.

I have a problem ,how can I put the word at the back, and the audio in the front?, I have been trying it and I cant do it
@MarioAlejandro36 жыл бұрын
Very useful tutorial thank you very much for your contribution, I would like to ask you a big favor, if you can help me with two questions, 1. It happens to me that I can not make anki cards that have a word in English, Audio, Image, and Meaning in Spanish, all this through the "media import" and the "Import", I think I have done all the steps but I have left clutter, or I duplicate the images, or the audios do not match the card in question, or do not appear the audios and or the cards. 2. When I synchronize the PC with the mobil after having created a deck (when I make manual test decks making card by card), the images are lost and also the audios, and I want to know how to do so that this does not happen .
@olstearn6 жыл бұрын
Hi mario, Sorry for the late reply. Actually I have never ever used the media import functionality when manually creating a card. I would have thought it would put it in your media collection folder but it sounds like this is not happening if they are missing when you sync. You could try just sticking all the media (audio and images) into the media collection folder and see what happens. Perhaps the file paths are pointing there but the media is just missing. This will then get uploaded when you sync and should be accessible from any device. If you have duplicate images, you can always have a look at the cards html and remove the duplicate very easily. While you are there, you could check that the audio corresponds to the correct card.
@RawthoughtTV7 жыл бұрын
THIS IS SO HELPFUL. Thank you. One weird thing though is that mine is adding one at a time then sleeping for 30 seconds between each card, so I think I'll be waiting a while for the audio to be added. Was yours instant or was it just edited down?
@olstearn7 жыл бұрын
Hi Loki, Google are trying to discourage use of their TTS service, which may be why you're finding it slow. AwesomeTTS use a disclaimer saying that they do not recommend it for mass generation any more. Still, you can adjust how long it sleeps for, and how often it sleeps if, in Anki, you go to tools->AwesomeTTS and then under the MP3 tab, you will find the 'download throttling during batch processing' settings. Tweaking those should probably get you 10 or so between each 30 second wait.
@RawthoughtTV7 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot for that info! I can also see people talking about this online. However, I don't have access to any settings like that. I'm on a Mac, perhaps that's why.

Excellent video, thank you. Most complete and thorough I could find. I was able to create and import an extensive Chinese vocabulary list complete with tone marks. One problem I had was Google Translate was not an audio option. I've seen some comments that Google has made this feature unavailable to Anki. None of the other available translators provided even adequate translation. Any suggestions?
@olstearn8 жыл бұрын
hi josey, Google has recently stopped supporting third party apps like awesometts. This was a pain as it was the only one that did bahasa Indonesia too. Im sure the developers are working on implementing another service if they haven't already but it may be worth notifying them. Please share your anki deck with me and ill see if my tool for bahasa (see my latest video) will work for Chinese too.
@joseycurtis6338 жыл бұрын
Thanks again for putting the time and effort into this topic. Very much appreciated by many I am sure. I suggested imTranslator to Anki as a replacement for Google. My deck is on desktop Anki. I'll try to create a shared deck. In the mean time as I go through my cards I record the Google translation from my phone. Slow but accurate.

Thanks for this. Really helpful for setting up Anki deck quickly. However, I can't seem to get the audio to work for Khmer. Tried it with google translate and one or two of the others but no joy. Any ideas?
@olstearn7 жыл бұрын
Hi Leon, I dont know any services which do khmer Im afraid. If you find a service which does it, let me know and I may be able to integrate it into a script I wrote which automatically adds audio to your deck (I did this while google temporarily discontinued their tts service).
@lp35534 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the video, maybe I missed something but I followed your steps roughly and I keep getting cards with only 1 field (i.e. the 2 columns aren't front and back but 2 different cards with only a front). Can you help me troubleshoot this?
@olstearn4 жыл бұрын
Hi Luke, Head to the 6:40 Ish mark and just check that the import settings look like mine did, I.e. fields separated by tabs, one set to go to the front, the other to the back etc. Assuming that's right, go to your .txt document and ctrl +f a single tab character (so they will hopefully all be highlighted). You might find that you've pasted an extra column by accident, or there is just a tab out of place somewhere confusing the heck out of the import process. If you still have trouble share the txt document with me and I'll have a gander and try importing it myself. Good luck!

Hi friend! Thank you so much for the video!!! Very interesting and clear!!! I noticed you have in your cards a note field in which you put some information about the lesson, for example "The Indonesian Way Lesson 46". Between the main text and this note field, there are some space or blank lines. How can I do to insert these spaces? I tried it from many ways but I wasn't be able to do it. Thanks in advance! Regards Fábio
@olstearn8 жыл бұрын
+fabio net net Hi Fabio, from the edit cards screen, which you can get to through tools -> manage types, you should be able to add a couple of line breaks () between your two fields. Here is the html from that deck, I hope it helps: {{English}} The Indonesian Way Lesson {{Lesson}}

Hello. I would like to make my own word cards. I have typed a list of 50 words, I would like to have a simple sentence for each one. Is there any trick how I can get 50 sentences in one click? I don't want to copy one by one. :) #flashcard #anki #quizlet #dictionary #vocabulary

Really fantastic! Thanks so much. I cannot use this for mandarin though as it would not let me save Chinese characters as an ANSI .txt file. Is there a way around it?
@olstearn6 жыл бұрын
Hi Spoonbender, have you tried going through the process? Its possible that even though you cannot see the characters in notepad, the encoding is correct and it will work. Try importing the text file, see what happens and let me know how you get on.
@jsmetamorph6 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your reply. I did not realise there was a difference between wordpad and notepad++. With notepad++ it works like a charm. Thanks.
