Post hardcore and alternative metal had a lot of overlap in sonic structure, especially in the 90’s. These guys and Helmet sound pretty similar but they’re shoved into different genre labels

Quicksand was the first band I ever saw, opening for snapcase and the deftones. I still love them to this day, 20 plus years later.

I saw that same tour at La Luna in Portland, OR. I think I was the only person I knew who actually cared about Quicksand... tragic stuff. During the Deftones set, Chino Morano jumped into the audience and crowdsurfed several hundred feet to the bar at the back, got a pint of beer, crowd surfed with the beer all the way back up to and on stage with it WHILE SINGING the entire time. Hell of a thing to see, ha ha!

Damn I’m from Buffalo and went to school with some of the snapcase guys. I knew they were pretty big on the hardcore scene but never would’ve guessed that quicksand opened for them at one point

I saw them open for Helmet in Buffalo in the early 90's. Never heard of them before that. Their 40 minute set left me stunned and changed my life. They were THAT powerful live!

A few years ago I met a guy from NYC who was the manager for both Quicksand and Helmet in the ‘90s. I was surprised, because I guess I had always thought of the two bands as “rivals” or something. That was quite a fun conversation, as I was obsessed with both bands in the early to mid ‘90s. Only got to see Helmet live, though.

This guy at work is always raving about “Tool this Tool that !”so I finally got a chance to play him some Quicksand while driving thru Manhattan around midnight ......he was dumbfounded he’d been missing out on Quicksand for over 25 years.....😅

I remember waiting to see Black Flag at FFF Fest in 2013 and "stumbled" upon these guys as they were the opener....Ive been listening to this record ever since and even have it on vinyl. To any bands out there....always play every show like its your last, you will never know who you'll inspire.

Some buildings in my complex are being condemned, and I barely make enough to get by, and don't where I will be living soon, but am trying my hardest to get some money ready to move, but it's not going to be easy, if possible at all, so music is there very, and only, thing I have to calm my heart. Life does nothing but test you. A true pass or fail is in front of me. I could use all the good vibes I can get

When I was like 14 going to see quicksand (opening for freaking white zombie weird I know!) Walter came up to me before the show wearing bicycle gear and asked me if their was a healthy restaurant around. I wouldn't say full on like Lance Armstrong apparel but definitely spandex shorts.... Then? I saw his band and was like WTF??? He is so hard-core for what he was wearing!!! I remember the first thing he said when the crowd pushed forward was "mosh politely "
