This time at the Quick Speed Shop I'm doing a job I have been putting off as I was a little leery about doing it. I'm using a 1933-34 Ford truck commercial grille shell on my 1929 shop truck. The lower chin is rusted and needs to be repaired. The grille also sits very low do to 4 inch body channel, flat front crossmember, and dropped axle. So while I am repairing the rust I am also going to shorten the grille shell 1 1/2 inches in the process. Can I do it? Watch and see.
Please like, share, and subscribe. I put out new videos every Wednesday and Saturday.

Great job. You can fill the tube with sand before you bend and it will help with kinks.

A word of caution.... welding (galvanized) conduit can produce lethal fumes, vent well. Templates with marking points before cutting are imperative for future reference! An alternate process after obtaining the template data is constructing a 1/4" plywood or 1/16" metal 3 tooth "comb" to relocate the severed bars after positioning/tacking the bar on each side of the crank hole insert. Good content, Model A or '32 commercial shells add originally, nice save. My wall hanger is a sectioned '32 without the insert.

Somebody’s going to think you know what you’re doing and then they’ll want you to do it all the time!! If I’m not mistaken, guys in the trade used to call the conduit bender a hickey. Great job! I would have afraid I’d ruin it.

Tedious work but you did a FABulous job, turned out awesome. With a grinder and welder, and a little patience, you can fab about anything. Enjoy the videos, always pick up a few tricks or ideas.

Thanks. This whole truck was literally built almost from scratch with hand tools and a welder. You don't need a fancy shop with $50k in tools to build fun stuff. You can also do it on a budget. I have about $6500 total in this truck, $4000 from the original build and the rest on the rebuild.
