When you exit greenhouse put an elbow and go up above the greenhouse to get a strong draft

Forget the smoke The heat will kill the fan 😂
@scottpollan81356 ай бұрын
holy moly, this thing is a fire hazard. when the hot gas cools, it is depositing creosote throughout the inside of that long pipe. it's essentially a giant resin tube. you should be burning CSL at least once a month. definitely disassemble the stovepipe fully and clean it annually.
@visionisscaryYTg6 ай бұрын
you don't need a fan, just a 90° and 10' of pipe going up ( a chimney above the roofline). and a dampener above the stove.
@boxcutter05 ай бұрын
If you are talking about a pipe merely going straight up, he is trying to capture more of the heat across the greenhouse…
@rilewis35 ай бұрын
You'll capture more heat by having the vertical run instead of a fan.

So am building a waste oil burner in my wood stove. I have a 5' stick off the top of the stove to a 90° to a 25' run horizontally out to the wall. This stove is going to run very hot. Would I be okay not putting a stack on the outside of the wall?
@changingoftheguard72564 ай бұрын
@@jordan721001 if your wood stove has a stack that run outside the wall already just tie into it with a T pipe.

This reminded me of those houses where people have built a greenhouse thats semi attached to their home, or like a earth ship where they have these giant tall windows at a steep angle facing the south to pull in the suns heat. You can be efficient in not only pulling in the winter suns heat, but also having your greenhouse pulling from your house wood stove heat. That way you don't have to maintain two separate wood stoves or some kind of separate heating device, you just simply centralize everything around your homes single wood stove.

If you PUSH the air into the wood stove, you can have the air intake from outside. Otherwise, you are using warmed air in the greenhouse to fuel the fire. Use the fan to PUSH air in from outside, and as others mentioned, add an elbow and a chimney outside and you'll be able to get some draft help too. Having the push fan control the burn you can dial the rate and temperature.
@scottpollan81356 ай бұрын
yes, he needs an inflow pipe to the stove feeding cool air in.
@familyplans37887 ай бұрын
I know its only temporary and its a lovely set up but maybe you could add some water filled barrels in there so that they heat up during the day and release their heat during the night ?
@changingoftheguard72565 ай бұрын
For every 2 ft of horizontal pipe you need 5 ft of vertical remember that
@j.r.5765 ай бұрын
Put a small wood stove beneath the 90 deg elbow just outside the greenhouse and replace the elbow with a tee and pipe them together. You'll need a damper above the outside stove. Fire up the outside stove first, once a draft starts close the flue for the stove as needed and light the inside fire. Keep choking the outer stove to cause the draft to pull from the inner stove.

We did the same exact thing here in Colorado the pipe creosotes so bad even with 5’ of vertical chimney . We decided it wasn’t worth the effort

You should get a solar panel and a battery maintainer for those batteries. They are cheap and easy to install.

Put a sweeping Tee on the chimey and put the fan on the swept part of the tee and the smoke will be pulled out but not through the fan.

I’d definitely clean up the brush at the end of the pipe for fire safety. Chance is low given how long the pipe is but when it goes bad it’s real bad.

Could put sand/bricks around the stove so you can burn it hotter but slowly release the heat.

Dig a small channel in the ground from the closest outside wall to the front of the stove and bury rain gutter or some tubing close to the heater will need to be metal so not to melt, then can change to plastic away from your stove.so it has a clear cold fresh air intake. It won’t pull oxygen from your green house. Plants will thrive in warmer temps year round. Also you will get a higher fresh air flow more efficient and controllable if you add a damper to cold air inlet tube.. possibly. This is only my opinion! 👍👍

Yea, um, let me know how long that fan holds up. Wondering if it will outlast the tin cans you used to put your stove pipes together 😂. Please put some sort of disclaimer up so that people don't try assembling anything like this in their home

Ahhuuumm if I am not mistaken that fan is for hot air and not for exhaust, and elbow with a bit if a stack I think would be much better, or maybe a T with the fan under blowing up a stack and that way the fan is not subject to heat and soot
@andyjota89065 ай бұрын
Research secondary tertiary burn if you introduce air in the tube and maybe a vortex you will burn all the carbons in the smoke and you can delete the fan and be very efficient.

Check out the feasibility of a double inflated plastic for your greenhouse. It’ll add about an R-5 value to all that surface area.

You just need to lift your pipe at an angle inside. So pitch it higher as it goes out side then run a 90 outside . Then run another 6 feet or so to create a chimney draft. That is bad design and this is commented by an hvac tech fyi.

READ THESE REPLIES - you screwed up a ton - you don't need a fan because of the length of the chimney, shove a wad of new paper in to the hole at the back end of the barrel and light it too preheat the chimney you'll get a draw. Also get the end of it up in to the sky where a VERTICAL pipe will give you a draw. That yep, that pipe is way too long - lotsa creosote problems on the way. Also yer drawing the heated air in the green house out of it to feed the stove - give the stove a fresh air supply from outside ......

Have you heard of the rocket stove con couch? UTube Ourlittlehomestead. Very nice family, really good kids. Better than any show on TV. I became very interested in rocket stoves and cob couches. 97- 98 % efficiency burn rate. No creosote and no ash to clean up. Oh, lest I forget, they had 2 barrels. 1 inside the other. I followed the interest to a 40- 60ft greenhouse that had installed the setup with a long cob bench on 1 side. They burnt very little wood ( sticks and limbs) and it worked great.

You could hook up a liquid heat bank to the wood burner with all the steel barrels you have, that way you dont have to risk the temp going up to 100F
