Quiet Super Smelter using Dropper Distribution

Super smelters are great, but most use minecarts that can be a bit noisy.
I've done previous videos using hopper distribution for super smelters, but as one of the commenters on that video noted, it doesn't deal well with a mix of items to be smelted.
So introducing the Dropper based Super Smelter. Its quiet, and only makes a noise when distributing the last ore or the last fuel. Its flexible, and if it gets a mix of items will just queue them in the hoppers next to the furnaces. Its also really easy to configure do different sizes by adjusting the redstone signal for length, and easy to build, the most complex part fitting in a single 4x12 circuit.
I haven't used this yet in my survival worlds, but I will. Configurable to any size from 4 to 14 furnaces, although I suggest thinking about going with 12 given it divides a stack and a half very nicely (or three stacks very nicely) to get that balance between bulk smelting, but also efficient fuel usage.

Oh wow, this is really cool! Did you come up with it? I've never seen anyone do something like this with droppers. I might try building this in my survival world at some point. Seems like there's even a litematica blueprint in the description, which is amazing!

Hi,you actually save me,because on server where i am playing all hoppers speed up from moving item every 8 tick to every tick,so only item distributor that work is yours,just wanted say thx,wait till you make this distribution very compact and easy

do you think it would be worth it to put a barrel buffer at the item to smelt hopper input for long term smelting or smelting with >5 items to prevent it from ending up in the last furnace/barrel? it could be too much of an edge case to worry

Its just an extra barrel and hopper per furnace. If you have an iron farm kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y6C8qn1sn8uGhrc that isn't that much of a cost at all. And lets be honest, Mojang isn't exactly making it so there are less items in the game to deal with. It is sort of amusing for me though, in that I made this design when someone pointed out my hopper based silent smelter kzbin.info/www/bejne/npmknayYiLKEfJo would clog up on >1 item types. And rather than coming up with an entirely new approach, I could have just added barrels as suggested to that one. I guess then though I wouldn't have made this video. Now I've got a new problem. Do I prefer my hopper based design with barrel buffers, or the dropper based design?

lol thank you for the input i spent a few hrs yesterday fiddling with the design, compacting more furnaces off the same signal. its quite an elegant solution compared to the unlocking of the hoppers@@elhedran
