That motor is big enough. You just need larger diameter cable's , 2x batteries tied in parallel. Amp drop is what's lowering torque and acceleration. Someday setup solar panels to top up when you post at camp. You gan also get a harbor freight tools tail gate generating and a dc/dc converter like in RVs. Then you get 900w endless battery powered if you want to make it hybrid. Good for different terrain.
@real_e Жыл бұрын
Here's a few things I notice that you can improve in a possible next design: 1. Wood Rotting/Degrading: from what I've seen in the video, you haven't put anything on the wood to help it prevent from rotting or taking damage from water. This is pretty important when camping in the middle of the forest. 2. Electronics Safety: When traversing the forest you encounter various different types of terrain and plants. The electronics are left open except for a little bit of electrical casing, but as someone who just got back from camping for a week straight, the electronics aren't the safest from the elements. 3. Height: The camper is VERY close to the ground, which for a lot of types of terrain, is NOT good at all. This just means that the bottom frame and electronics are more prone to taking damage from any rocks, dirt, or plants sticking out from the ground. Additionally, the low height of the camper means that there's a lot of terrain you can't go through with it. 4. Power: The power provided by your motor isn't enough to carry you uphill, and uphill is something you'll encounter a lot within the forest. This means if/when you need to go uphill, you'll likely be forced to pull it uphill instead of relying on the motor (something I wouldn't want to do). 5. Safe Food Storage: Many wild animals have a VERY great sense of smell. Meaning they can smell open food from MILES away. That being said, our simple camping foods smell like deluxe meals to any animals who smell it, and naturally, they'll want some of it. I doubt you want to wake up in the middle of the night face-to-face with a wild animal looking for your food. This is where things like Bear Boxes come in. They're safe ways to store your open food and prevent animals from being able to smell or access it. 6. Ventilation: As someone who again, just got back from camping for a week straight (in the summer near a less elevated campground), ventilation is ABSOLUTELY NECCESSARY. You can't always rely on a fan or electronics to keep you cool, so I HIGHLY recommend adding more ventilation. 7. Power: In longer camping trips, you won't always have a place to recharge your campers battery. Which usually means if it's out of battery, have fun pulling it the rest of the trip! I'd add a small solar panel or two that can be taken out of the camper and positioned anywhere on the floor (not on the campers roof) to give you a semi-reliable source of power and no need to worry as much about running out of battery. (Before replying to my comment, please note that I'm not responding to any replies because there are a few low-IQ people responding. These suggestions are intended to show things that can be done to improve this project and make it much more reliable and useful, rather than simply being something that will sit in a garage for years. I am aware that this project was not intended to be a full fledged wilderness survival camper.)

This thing was made for click bait. I agree with everything you wrote but this wasn't lifted from plans out of Mechanics Illustrated. Who in their right mind would make this thing out of lumber (with butt fits at that), electric motor (underpowered by about 10 HP) instead of gas engine, inadequate ground clearance, glued components not weather proofed electrical (fall off in hot or freezing temps), that can't traverse even shallow streams, no suspension, blah, blah, blah. This is about as inadequate as it comes and more the toy than a serious useful project.

I love this! We watched this as a family. Obviously this is a prototype kind of thing and we had fun talking about our modifications to the idea. We decided we'd probably use PVC pipe to make the frame for the tent so you can push it to the edge. Then instead of greenhouse plastic we'd use mesh and seal it at the bottom so you can get a nice breeze. We would use bigger wheels so it sits higher and gives more ground clearance. And we'd probably put the battery in a closed box so that the battery doesn't get weathered. And maybe use a stadium chair when driving for more comfort? These ideas are an amalgamation of ideas we had with the kids. Thanks for giving us a jumping off point to have a really fun discussion!

I like your family's idea of using a mesh material in replacement of the greenhouse plastic, makes it sound more breathable and refreshing. Also the PVC pipe is the same kind of idea I had when talking about the frame, I was even day dreaming during the video about adding like a hidden frame that if you wanted to, could fold out and make like a pop up canopy of sorts that can fold away and retain the shape of the cart when you're in travel mode and then a shaded canopy if you had the room to bring a fold chair. Would definitely be really neat to improve on this base model.

Grab a piece of conduit and some paracord and stakes. You can "tent" the overhang ends and get more shade. That would also allow you to open the end and with the thermo and fan, no bugs. BTW Drilling a hole closer to the spindle on each side will give you a better turning radius if you have the clearance.
@LHyoutube Жыл бұрын
Awesome build! 👍 The one issue inherent to a greenhouse (by design) is potentially unbearable humidity levels inside. I would cut out and remove some sections of the clear sheeting and replace them with bug mesh sections, especially paired at opposite sides of the camper to permit through airflow. Then perhaps create correspondingly positioned flaps in the yellow tarpaulin that can be opened to expose the bug mesh sections, perhaps with velcro attached to secure them in the open position. The addition of velcro to other areas of the yellow tarpaulin would also help secure it in place when in each of the various open or folded-back positions you demonstrated. As would velcro mounted on the battery holder to ensure that the tarpaulin covers the battery and doesn't blow free during windy and rainy weather and result in water damage to the battery. Equipment-wise, I'd add a small folding camping table. This could be secured on the inside wall, or even have a mount to position it on the outside of the vehicle frame. Finally, the addition of a small grab handle to the front and rear bumpers would mean you could more easily lift the front or back end of the vehicle and spin it around 180 degrees resting on the other set of wheels when doing a bunch of three-point turns is impractical to turn the vehicle around. These might also help remove the vehicle from if it gets bogged or caught on something.

As cool as that is I would worry about how low it is to the ground not just for the fear of running over something that can catch hold of the engine or chain but mostly due to the fear of snakes & how easy it would be for one to crawl inside from the steering hole area & personally I would've added a magnetic screen flap so you can get a nice breeze during the hot days while keeping out pesky bugs etc. Awesome build & I just subbed cant wait to see what else you make :)

Wow!!!!!!....greeting from Malaysia. I am 55 but looking at this guy's wonderful invention, it really bring back my childhood dream as others called.....a decent, simple yet functional tent on wheel, ready to roll whenever you want. Great job man........😂😂😂

It’d be cool if you could add an extra motor for more power and thin piece of acrylic across bottom for protection! Oh and maybe even a small solar panel to charge the battery and accessory power! This is great! Awesome build!

I 'm thinking of re build it with more power or motors or something Still working it out in my head Thanks for the kind words as well - Cheers!

This is awesome watching this whole process. I think I could do the first step of laying the boards down in a rectangle, but that's about as far as I'd get. I wish I had this much knowledge and such a skillset. Just imagine walking through the forest, and seeing a quiet nerd driving this thing around. That would be the coolest thing I've ever seen in my life.

I love your channel and your videos (discovered you today) but I am a little worried, I am a camper myself and the only things I now about camping are from experience and ideas of mine. The thing that worries me is the difference in construction of camping tents and the one you usually use, since they have a mesh for insects and a waterproof layer for the rain, with a space between and usually some kind of vents so air can renovate. This las part is the one that I think is important. I just hope you have something to add some ventilation for when you sleep so you dont get posioned with your own carbon dioxide.

Thanks for sharing this video and building processes. I have a 36 acre property. 18 acres of woods and 18 in pasture / hayfields. The first few years I established hiking trails through the woods after storms tree limbs required chainsaws to keep the trails clear. Those vines you have will need to be managed as well. Enjoyed watching your progress.

I don't have an inch of property or home sir, 😞 i wish I'm also like you.. I'll become a great farmer and I would have created a heaven in that property.. Fruit trees, ponds.. A small home inside the woods.. I can't just imagine how happy I will then

I really like this build. It looks nice and light and really comfortable to camp in. I would have added some pedals just in case the battery dies. Maybe make the wheels bigger so that it would be easier to drive on bumpy terrain. And a handle on the front or back in case you get stuck again. That way you can just lift it and turn it around if you have to (got the idea from the Peel P-50). Also, that pizza looked really good.

pedals would be a cool addition it would be really hard to move by feet though its a pretty heavy beast lol but a fun idea to think about- Cheers!

A lot of this was over my head, but that control box turned out amazing! Such an incredible build!!!!
@LaineyBug2020 Жыл бұрын
I love this! For your next project, could you do a pedal powered version? My fantasy is to have a recumbent seating that can fold down easily when it's time to sleep but you could still take off quickly from sleep mode if you need to. I don't mind a electric assist that runs on solar, but I love the idea of just being able to fully power it myself! This is actually the closest build I've seen. Usually people just build a tow behind camper for bikes and no one is doing anything enclosed.

This inspired me so much that me and my dad has decided to build a similar one, by refurbishing an old trailer we used to transport our goats. It’s going so well! Man, this guy has to be my role model at this point. 😅
