I enjoy your videos, and I am using these templates. I'm 70 years old, American, and I am now in the post--Industrial stage of my life. I really laugh at Americans turning qayg into machine work, and machine quilting setups that cost about $5,000 used. You keep working as slowly as you wish. Thank you for your relaxed style of presentation.
@bevricker48129 ай бұрын
You underestimate the cost of the sewing set up my sister had six machines two did embroidery as well and one did only one stitch. The biggest was $22K. I love handwork and have no appreciation for machine embroidery.
@lauraoneal51469 ай бұрын
I am American and I do take offense to this nasty remark. I do hand stitch but also machine stitch. My machine set up didn’t cost anywhere near $5000 thank you. I got as a gift from my husband for our 39th wedding anniversary a $250 brand new Brother machine that does more stitches than I will ever use. So just to let you know not all of us spend that kind of money and if I hand stitch quilt as you go or do it by machine it didn’t cost me any more than you hand stitching as it was A GIFT. Not all Americans are frivolous spenders. So keep your rude comments across the pond.

I love using the Grunge pieces for solids. They tie everything together so well in a quilt top. I need to get on my hexies again. I'm kind of waiting to finish up some other quilt tops, though, so I know what pieces will be left to cut my 2.5 in squares from. I just wrap each square around a 1in hexie cardstock template, then baste. I'm not fiddling with cutting out hexagons. Just wrap, baste, stitch together, pull put inner basting threads, and reuse templates for the next diamond set. 😊 I'm glad I found you. Don't blame yourself for being a slow sewer. I like having handsewing projects, as I'm sure many others do. It's refreshing to find a channel like this, when so many set their camera speed so high that they are hard to watch. Kate, at the Last Homely House is a handstitcher, too, and it is so nice to just take our time working on our projects, especially when life is a rat race anyway.

We started each project for a reason, and we'll get them done eventually... lol Thanks for sharing & Cheers

I liked this so much I'm making one for hubby. I'm using denim for the backing ( used jeans 👖) and different colors of check and buffalo plaid for the insides. I use a face roller that has a stone rolly thingy for a seam press. I bought it at the Dollar Tree in the US for $1.25 USD. It's in the makeup section. I'm going to put 5" squares in my hubby's quilt with some embroidery on them. I know I'm going to do a squirrel with acorns and oak leaves on one. He also has a dog he loves so I might try to find a pattern for one. I think his name in a square. I'm not sure what else. Maybe four or five scattered throughout. You're not alone in the slow department. I have some cut but only two rectangles and one 2 1/2" square sewn 😅

I've been using up old jeans fabric as the backing for some QAYG garden seat pads and a quilt to lay on the grass on summer days (if we ever get one of those again 😏). Those ones are hexagonal. I didn't want anything I'd be too precious about, knowing they might end up with grass stains, and I can throw them in the wash. The brick design seems almost too easy, but it's very effective and I think I will probably make one. I love buying beautiful fabric, but I also like to re-use fabrics like shirting. My OH buys really nice cotton shirts in a variety of stripes, plains and patterns and , when they start to deteriorate, I wash, take apart and add to my stash. Speedy sewing with your own projects. xx

I’m like you, finishing a project is nice…but I enjoy the process more. I always have several sewing and counted cross stitch projects going….like having agood book that I don’t want to end… then I’ll have a project for a gift and I have to stay on it 😂. For this reason part of my production is going to making baby quilts to stash away as future gifts….so it’s not a mad rush. I like to tinker…why I so love the process of gardening. I’ve made one english paper piecing quilt, but only the top is finished. I really loved making the top. I’m currently making a sweater quilt, sewing a 5” cotton square of old sheets to the sweater square and was thinking of assembling the 5” blocks into a larger block and use quilt as you go…now i know this is how i’ll complete this quilt. thank you for the video.

I love your videos and the hand sewing/hand quilting aspect-I also specialize in starting new projects, finishing them takes much much longer 🤦🏽♀️🤣🤣🤣 they’ll eventually get done

Enjoy your videos. Thank you for your hard work and smiles. I’ve unearthed more projects than I can tell you. We start something, master it and move on. Somehow we are eager to learn something new. Figure my grandkids or some stranger can finish it for me :)

I am glad you enjoy my videos. I am glad I am not alone in starting new projects ❤️

Thank you for the update, I am a project starter too…not so much a finisher! All in due time I believe it will all get done. 💕

Your quilt is so lovely! And the idea of making individual blocks first - front, wadding, and backing - is brilliant!! Reminds me of the "authentic" cathedral quilt, which I think you'd love making, as well. Thank you!

Rachel I love these templates and watched your cutting video. i couldnt get my corners looking nice so i dont use the outer template with the corners cut off, but leave them rectangular and use the instructions from a backing quilt and binding all in one. that gives me nice mitred corners which i love. many thanks for the qayg idea and instructions. your videos are excellent and pitched at a level easy to follow, especially for a 80 3/4 elderly teenager.

Just ordered the template bundle. I think I’m going to use my huge stash of vintage fabrics for the front and the back. It will be quite colorful. Hopefully I can last to make a quilt but it could turn out to be a Runner if it’s too tedious. 😊

I have promised myself that I am going to make this. I have started the cutting part, but I have an English paper pieced quilt that I have been putting off for fifteen years. It is all dinner by hand and I need to finish that one first. But I am going to make this!!!

The quilt looks beautiful! I love the Tilde prints and colors, and you found an excellent border and backing fabric in the Moda grunge. I was wondering if the ladder stitch would work well to join the rectangles? As far as multiple projects go, I have 3-4 quilt tops completed that need to be sandwiched and quilted, and one Halloween quilt to be bound. I was sick and didn’t finish it for last Halloween. I’m also working on a granny square afghan, and getting back into garment sewing with pants and a shirt taking shape - and more fabric and patterns are waiting. I do jump around so much, and my projects take so much longer in reality than they seem in my mind! Well, I’m never bored!

Sounds like you have some wonderful projects on the go! For joining I do the recommended stitch from Daisy and grace which is a ladder/wip hybrid stitch. Where one side you do the ladder motion and then go straight across via a wip stitch (all cover in my earlier videos) this makes it quite strong as there are two stitches per rung on the ladder. I have experimented with just a ladder stitch and I didn't like it

I just happened across the channel recently. Thank you it's enjoyable, and not a lot of background music, (thankfully,) straight to it ❤Joy

Thank you for checking out my channel, no I try not to add background music too much and if I do then it's when I'm not talking and very low volume xx

I am also a slow quilter. I also have a hand sew quilt I'm working on. I find it relaxing after doing cutting and machine sewing.
