Thank you for making that so simple! I'm going to make my daughter a kindergarten quilt with a square for each letter for the alphabet, one with her hand print and a few other blocks. I was wanting to add some purple sashing since that's her favorite color and pastel dinosaurs on the back. This is going to help so much. :)

Your instruction is spot on and so very clear. It’s been a while since I’ve done any quilting. This last year I got into embroidery and did about 30 kits that I got off of Amazon. I am going to cut sashing and make 12 of them into a quilt and enter it into our county fair in September. With your help I now know how to create this lovely quilt. Thank you 💕Cathy

I love your tutorials. You are my go to whenever I want to know how to make something. I made a quilt this way, thank you. I hope you answer my question. Can I make a quilt as you go using rows of quilt blocks instead of 1 at a time??
@TheSewingRoomChannel Жыл бұрын
Hi Blaise. Do you mean you want to stitch the blocks in each row together first, and then layer the cotton batting and fabric for the back with the row of quilt blocks? If so, I worry that when you begin to attach the rows together they won't line up properly. Have you tried stitching all the blocks together in the quilt top first, then layer everything? If you do not want to bother with binding, watch this tutorial. Go about half way through the video to see how I finish off the quilt with using binding strips. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aZbbYnyni8yjppo Hope this helps. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing.
@blaiseporta7794 Жыл бұрын
@@TheSewingRoomChannel that is exactly what I was thinking about. I guess looking for an easier way than block by block. I am nervous about putting the layers together and not being able to fit it to quilt on my machine. It's just a regular sewing machine & I I started sewing with covid19 lockdown) I'm inexperienced. I have 42, 12" blocks, so it's big.

Love your video. My question is if the blocks are 12 blocks wide would the joining sashing top to bottom be cut into one long strip. Example: if it measures 90 inches wide, would it be cut 90 inches wide to join the two rows? I hope I am making sense. :)
@TheSewingRoomChannel5 жыл бұрын
Hi Martha. The best way to get an exact measurement of the length of the sashing that goes in between the rows is measure the length of the finished row. Example: stitch the first row of 12 1/2" blocks - put the 12 1/2" long sashing strips in between (including a sashing strip at the beginning and end of the row). That is how long your sashing strips should be that goes in between each row. Every individual can make the same 12 1/2" block and I guarantee that everyone's block will come up short or longer than 12 1/2". You need to square up all your blocks to be the same size. Watch this video to learn how to square a quilt block kzbin.info/www/bejne/rGTFZ6egg9akog Thanks for watching, and happy sewing.
