Finally!! A wonderful easy to understand way to do this. Great explanation, this newbie quilter can now join those together with confidence. My fof( fear of failure) level was quite pronounced!

I'm a Janome user and I use the HP2 foot for joining my quilt as you go blocks. It works perfectly with this joining technique.

I was wondering how the quilt as you go blocks would go together. How neat. I'm sure I'll have to watch a couple of times til I get it down! LOL

Thank you for sharing. I am a newbie to quilting and found it is a lot easier doing QAYG. I just needed ideas on how to stitch them together🤓

Thanks for showing your method of joining blocks -I like that the second strip is not folded as is usual because the seam is not as thick.

From the UK - great instructions, but a shame you didn't use different fabrics/blocks as very difficult to see. did you create another video using different contrasting fabrics? If not, could you add your teaching skills are top notch! 😊

To me, this looks the best out of the other quilt as you go videos. So is there no way to do a quilt as you go without sashing?? I thought there was. I love your blocks too by the way!
@Chatterboxquilts6 ай бұрын
Yes there is and I have a video on that too. You can find it at kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y33ZomeGi754Z6Msi=QvrFzu6sGXJMd7Lz

It's great to have a helper! I love QAYG, and this method of sewing the blocks together is the best as far as I'm concerned. After you've sewn the block, in order to sew the rows, I'm assuming you make a long strip the width of the quilt to secure those rows?
@Chatterboxquilts2 жыл бұрын
Yes, you'd be doing the same method just with one long piece of fabric.

I've always wondered why it's not done the opposite way so that the front is properly seamed and the back is topstitched. Is there a reason?
@yolandabyrnes31362 жыл бұрын
Can I used a wide strip for the sacking.
@Chatterboxquilts2 жыл бұрын
Do you mean use a wider strip than I used for the sashing? If so, the blocks wouldn't be right against each other and, as there is no batting in the sashing, it would just be 2 pieces of fabric on top of one another so I don't think that would work very well.

ok so I've sashed one complete row...HOW I sash the rows together...??

At 7:20 you mention the stitching is not perfect but your not going to see that in the final product. How is that possible? The stitching is visible is it not? Just wondering as a new quilter. Thanks for posting.
@Chatterboxquilts9 ай бұрын
I was referring to the underside of the sashing. The top stitching looked good but where I folded it under - not as good but as it's on the bottom, you won't see it. Hope that explains it.
@debragreenway13492 жыл бұрын
Why not finish the top of the block first? Then you don’t have topstitching on the top.
@Chatterboxquilts2 жыл бұрын
I've always done it the way I've shown so I'm not sure. If you did it the opposite way, you might see the topstitching that you've done on the back on the front. I've have to give it a try and see what the final result looks like.
