Quilter owes you money, man. I’d bet everyone that has seen this bought one.

It’s 100% worth it! I have some more expensive tube amps that I don’t play as much as the Superblock. It’s blown me away for both live use and the xlr out is great for recording as well.

Thanks! Can’t say enough good things about the Superblocks. At the beginning I just used it for mostly convenience when I didn’t want to use or bring a tube amp but I’ve been using it more and more for live gigs and recording just because of how good it sounds!

It’s really quite nice to hear a good player do a guitar/amp demo!! Honestly there’s maybe 2-3 guys who make demos that do it professionally in a full time role.. outside them the overall caliber (particularly in playing ability) takes a STEEP downward face down drop.. Haha! Seriously, I hear folks who I’d say were taking lessons/playing for 6 months-a year tops, and everyone in the comments section is saying stuff like; “man you’re the best I’ve ever heard in my life!” “The amp company should be paying you for making thier amp look so incredible” etc.. And bless the people putting themselves out there, but I mean.. I’m only 27 and I sound like an old bitter grump, but I knew cats in high school 50x better that were casual players. Maybe I’m biased because I started very young with an obsessive desire/focus..?? 🤷🏻♂️

Thanks! Yea, totally agree that while there are a handful of really great players who do great demos there are far more mediocre to bad demos where the player is not at all proficient on the instrument. I don't think you need to be any kind of a virtuoso or anything like that to make a demo, but the sloppiness of ones playing (or just playing out of tune) is really distracting on a lot of demos. It's one of the reasons I started making some demos of gear I like! Unfortunately, haven't had a lot of time lately to continue doing it but hoping to do so more in the near future!

I've been watching videos on the Quilter Superblock and this one is the only one where it actually sounds good. In so many demos it sounds too brittle. It still sounds bright and doesn't seem to have much sustain like a tube amp, but generally it seems like a good product. But would it sound okay at low volumes for us apartment dwellers? Also do you have any idea how it compares sound-wise to the Quilter Aviator Cub?
@sheifiproductions Жыл бұрын
I really love the superblock US. An advantage to solid state vs tube is you can definitely get a good tone at a low volume. You have a variety of options including using headphones, plugging in a speaker cabinet, or going XLR out into your computer/interface. I don't find it to be too brittle and the three different amp voicing are really quite useful. I think it sounds and feels quite "tube" like, but if you're looking for some of the compression and sustain of tubes you probably want to run a little more gain on the pedal. I have not tried the Aviator Cub but I have a micropro mach 2 (12" combo) and they both sound great but I actually prefer the superblock so far!

There's no truth to the sustain bit. It's confirmation bias.

@sheifiproductions10 ай бұрын
Nope! You can take the xlr out direct to mixer or recording interface. The xlr out also has a cab simulator built in which sounds quite good. I've used a lot for recording and live and have been quite happy with the tones!

Does it have enough headroom with humbuckers to use in a not heavy kind of jazzy/ funky band ?
@sheifiproductions Жыл бұрын
If you use with the power supply it’s supposed to be the equivalent of a 25-watt tube amp. In theory around the same head room (if not a little more) than a deluxe reverb. You could also use the xlr out (which has a cabinet simulator) to PA/powered speaker or run it into a cabinet. I either go direct for gigs/recording or I have a block dock 12 hd cabinet I play it through. I usually play more single coil guitars but I would think it would be loud enough to hear yourself as a monitor and what not. Maybe not loud enough to stay totally clean and be heard over band but if it’s mic’d or direct out you should be good!

Have you compared these Quilters to the Hughes & Kettner Ampman?
@sheifiproductions Жыл бұрын
I'm not familiar with the Amman but just looked it up and looks impressive! Definitely more and some different features from the superblock. The superblock US is specifically for Fender/American tones (which is usually what I like) and I imagine the Ampman can do much more modern tones. Thanks for turning me onto the pedal though as I had not seen it before!

@@sheifiproductions the ampman is based on (or a reaction to) the Bluguitar amp1. Check it out when you can.

Do you think with a pedal it can get in the Slayer, Metallica ball park ? I have a Marshall DSL1cr but find the 8 inch speaker very limiting and a bit brittle, so thinking if for pure home playing this would be a better buy.
@sheifiproductions Жыл бұрын
This unit takes pedals great but I don’t really play music in that heavier style. My guess is the UK Superblock (similar pedal but British voicing) would do better at that style.
@gentian599 Жыл бұрын
I have same dilemma Maybe I bay both US & UK version👌 Or Mach3 but too loud for home users
@axzhor Жыл бұрын
@@gentian599 I ultimately decided to go the HX stomp route with desk speakers, as that gave the maximum flexibility without having to put a lot of more money into pedals etc. I can go from Metallica to John Mayer cleans quite easily, I will say the tweakability of the stomp can be overwhelming, but you just need to know the basics to get relatively close to the sound you need and can ignore a lot of the customizations.
