Such a lovely time quilting with you. We have the same taste! I love all that you have going and your tin of treasures. I so get that. I just love all my quilting & stitching treasures, containers, bags, baskets to hold it all in and carry it all with me, civil war fabrics, Valdani, buttons, books....I consider collecting & admiring the treasures another hobby in itself. 😊
@logcabinstitcher72744 жыл бұрын
Yup, we are alike! I was going through my fabrics last night choosing fabrics for more projects bags and just loving each piece I touched. It’s funny when I wanted to make a Christmas bag, I kept thinking, ‘I can’t use this fabric because I need to save it for a quilt.’ Sometimes it’s the collection I value more than what I use it for. Thanks for watching!

I love your gift of storytelling, it's so lovely to stitch with you while you share your beautiful stories. I love your quilt and your fabric selections.. I love the scrappy interest it exhibits. I'm a lover of old things as well, I think for me it's the bit of history it holds, and the wonder of it's journey through time. I use to deliver the Sunday newspaper for extra income because we too homeschool and are on a single income with 4 kids... anyway there was a vintage trunk on a customers tree belt, you bet I took it and called the customer inquiring it's history. It turns out it was trunk that was made in Italy for the journey to come to America.. WHAT!!! It even has the top insert for the under garments tray. It gives an item so much more life when there is a story to it. I think that's why it's such a wonderful idea of you to have a journal for your stitching projects to not only tell your story and remember notes if it turns into a UFO/WIP but also it will tell the story for your kids. Anyway I love see your old goodies. Personally I love to collect vintage kitchen gadgets, linens, and doilies. I especially look out for anything with tatting on it. I learned to tat several years ago but didn't progress past an entry level. Mostly due to it being a dying if not near dead art. Well enough chatting, I need to move onto your next video :) -Jenn

Jenn, I just love hearing from you!! Oh, yes, old things have such a dear patina and uniqueness in character. I am looking around my house to find more treasures that I've forgotten about and tucked away, so I can bring them out and display them after seeing fun inspiration on Instagram and the Blackbird Designs books,. That trunk sure sounds amazing!!! Makes me want to go to antique stores, but oh....I'm just about our of room for anything new in my home. Happy stitching!!

Quilts, crocks, scoops, cranberry scoops, clocks, books, barrels, dishes and the list goes on. Thanks for sharing.

Bonnie, we have such similar stories. First cross stitching then quilting then back to cross stitching. My mother was also my best friend and she did live next-door to me and passed away four years ago. I miss her so much it hurts. I was her sole caregiver and I wish I was still taking care of her. But I also know she is in heaven with Jesus and she’s able to breathe and walk and run like she couldn’t do here. And I will see her again, that’s what gets me through. But I also have many fond memories as you do with your mother to cling to.

Oh girl, yes we have so much in common and so much to be grateful for! My Mom is the one who shared her love of Our Savior with me and showed me unconditional love. I've had her as such a marvelous role model as I've been a parent and a friend. She just loved to laugh and loved sweet and simple pleasures. So very glad you found your way into my Sewing Room!!

Hi, Bonnie!!! I suggest you call Dyeing to Stitch in Virginia Beach, a cross stitch store that is ALSO the home of R&R Reproductions linen, 757-366-8740. R&R linen is lovely! I so thank you for the shout-out and hearing that you enjoyed my channel! I love the story of your mom’s fabrics and your first project bag is so pretty. How fun to think of matching needle books for your project bags! Dandelions are a very important early Spring food source for emerging pollinators; I know you don’t like them in your garden, but maybe leave a small patch for the bees. 😊 I’m in the Scattered Seed club, too, and so enjoy it. ORT: old ratty thread or old ratty thing, basically a scrap or leftover. What a happy visit with you today!!! Thank you for sharing your faith and your tablet of verses. All is grace, and Jesus is Lord. Looking forward to your next episode! 🍂🍁🍂 Donna Rae

Hi, Bonnie, I think I'm all caught up on your videos. Have enjoyed them all. Thank you for sharing your heart. I feel we have a lot in common. I have the same ME tin. I also use YL essential oils everyday. I have recently had the opportunity to go to two estate sales in my area and "rescue" some old treasures - found an old church pew, rolling pins, cross-stitch and quilt saves... Hope you are able to enjoy some stitching time. Praying the fires are brought under control very soon and the weather cooperates. Take care.

Oh, A Kindred Spirit indeed! Stitching and YL Oiling!!!! So very, very glad you found me and have enjoyed my stories. Love your quilt stories! I have lots of the same fabrics that you used for the wild geese blocks! I have a few of the rulers to make them....it looked so simple when I watched the shop owner . When I tried it at home it just didn't make sense to me! I use stamps by Cindy Blackberg , cut on the outer line, sew on the inner line and I hand piece. Sadly, she retired and not making them anymore. Log Cabin quilts are my favorite! I paper piece when I can find the printed papers. So much simpler for me. I'm not a fan of rulers. Lol math makes my brain hurt! I love Young Living Essential oils too. I use the Peppermint oil when I have a coughing fit and it stops my coughing very quickly when I put some under my nose. Perfumes are a trigger for me and soy based candles kill me!

Laura Richards I’m glad you love the Flying Geese as well! Have you tried the foundation by the yard where the pattern is printed on muslin and you do the process like foundation piecing? It’s another way I do flying geese. I often search KZbin for video tutorials on projects I need to refresh on. Oh yeah, after you get the artificial fragrances out of your home, it messes your sinuses up when you go somewhere and experience them. I’m so glad you’re using the REAL essential oils Young Living provides. Have you tried our Eucalyptus Blue? I have an empty bottle in my sewing room and I smell it when the fibers are in the air and bothering me. Smells just like the Eucalyptus tree in my backyard.

Nancy Brindley Glad you like it! Actually it was just a layout I saw on Pinterest when I searched Half Square Triangle Quilts. Half Square triangles are so versatile and there are many different layouts to choose from. The dark fabrics and the limited color choices led me to this layout rather than another one I had planned on.

@logcabinstitcher72744 жыл бұрын
Oh, That's great!! I'm so glad you got inspired! I like the embroidery needles and I use the smallest one that I can fit the pearl cotton through. I like Valdani size 12 pearl cotton. I get the variety pack of embroidery needles size 5/10 and use the ones in the middle. I haven't quilted since I started cross stitching, so I'll have to do some quilting this week and maybe update this reply!
