As a novice quilter, this tutorial was by far the best I found to make this lovely quilt block! Alanda is an excellent instructor! Will make it as a table runner for my sister's birthday, and a pillow for me! So grateful it's still available!! Thank you!

I would like to make this pattern into a 12 inch block, how much bigger do the pieces have to be?

I've always liked this block but for some reason have never tried it. Thanks for making it easy! I have a question, how do you determine the correct way to sew a block together considering locking seam allowances and/or spinning seams? It always seams(ha) that I check with youtube first..I don't like to rely heavily on that fact.. Thank you for any guidance you lend!!

My general rule of thumb is to lay the squares out and join them together in rows. Once the rows are done I work from the top row to the bottom row, sewing them together. I press the seams on the first row in one direction and the seams in the next row in the opposite direction so that the seams nest together. For this block I constructed the corner blocks first but i could just as easily have done it in individual rows. I hope this helps.
