How do you quilt the quilt when finished? Do you go around the center? Do you have one quilted that you could show ?
@QuiltingBlocksnPatterns10 ай бұрын
Unfortunately we haven't made a quilt from this, we just wanted to show the technique. And since neither of us can quilt to save our lives 😄 we have no idea how to quilt it. The main thing is not to quilt over the tie section as the whole idea is to have a 3D effect. I have seen others who just do some circles or straight lines on the part that doesn't make up the tie and that looks quite nice.

I've always liked this block but for some reason have never tried it. Thanks for making it easy! I have a question, how do you determine the correct way to sew a block together considering locking seam allowances and/or spinning seams? It always seams(ha) that I check with youtube first..I don't like to rely heavily on that fact.. Thank you for any guidance you lend!!
@QuiltingBlocksnPatterns Жыл бұрын
My general rule of thumb is to lay the squares out and join them together in rows. Once the rows are done I work from the top row to the bottom row, sewing them together. I press the seams on the first row in one direction and the seams in the next row in the opposite direction so that the seams nest together. For this block I constructed the corner blocks first but i could just as easily have done it in individual rows. I hope this helps.

I have just the fabric for this pattern, even tho I'll use 3 colors. Thank you for written instructions. Are you in Australia like it sounds? Hello from deep in the heart if Texas! And thank you again for such a well done video!!

Simple..Now just repeat that 131 times. This pattern took me a week to cut out all of the pieces. Then after sewing the pieces together, I had to trim the roofs...another 132 times. Cute, but not a quick patteren. Holy Cow.

But I bet it looks amazing. You are a hero 😊 to undertake that task, and that explains why we never completed a quilt using this pattern. Would be nice as a table runner or cushion cover.

Great tutorial but if your a beginner measurements like 3.3/8ths can be confusing .. the best I can convert that to is 3ins and 9.5mm .. it's an unusual measurement for blocks as most work in quarters or halves ..eg.. 3.1/4,,,,3.1/2,,,,,3.3/4 etc ....... When I first started quilting took me a while to get used to 8ths measurements .. if in doubt Google it .. getting measurements correct helps a great deal in quilt blocks ...... Just my opinion ....

I've seen a different method, where the squares are cut first then sewn on. But even the pattern I have is a lot of waste as opposed to cutting smaller squares

Really good block. Be careful if you want your roof fabric print to be directional. Could have used a TIP on that one but figured it out.
