I bought her book when I was there in May. What a life she has had and raising those kids were always their priority. She told the story of love to her was bells and whistles. Yet with Ron she was comfortable. I know that feeling

When I was partially paralyzed after brain surgery 4 yrs ago & could no longer do many things I used to do, I decided I could learn to use the sewing machine I'd had for years. I found Jenny Doan on youtube and learned to sew my first stitch. I've been avidly quilting since & create works of quilted art today! Quilting truly is my therapy & Jenny is the best medicine I ever ingested.

To this day I still wake up with coffee and check out the “Daily Deal”. I order almost all of my fabric online from MSQC. First quilt was a Jenny tutorial on a jeans quilt with jeans saved from two sons and husband. I was hooked!!!! Jenny makes you feel like you “can” do it. The icing on the cake, you can rewind the tutorials until you finish that quilt if you miss a step or need to refresh your brain. God Bless her and her family, a true hard working family and business. A dedicated customer forever.

@Brendan Becker you know Angela Walters learned to quilt from her husband’s grandfather! Men absolutely do quilt, and there are some outstanding, award winning traditional and modern quilters who are men (along with some of my faves on KZbin, like Rob Appell from Man Sewing). Keep on quiltin’, dude! And on a personal note, if Jenny can inspire this purple-haired, tattooed Texas girl to start quilting, she can inspire anyone.
@beckeb004 жыл бұрын
@@sevenandthelittlestmew I do know... and the MSQC did do a lot of work with Man Sewing. It seems to be coming back but there were many years in which many thought that quilting was "women's work."
@33479Leigh4 жыл бұрын
I think I read somewhere that sewing used to be a mans job many many years ago
@beckeb004 жыл бұрын
@@33479Leigh It most definitely was. When you think of a tailor, you probably think of a man doing that. I would say that the mindset shifted mid-century last year when sewing was considered part of housework and "women did housework." Glad that we've evolved so that housework is now everyone's job and men can embrace activities that were considered women's work and vice versa.
@jackielam19204 жыл бұрын
Yes, I have taught several men to quilt. My quilt teacher taught several doctors to quilt. As all quilters bring something fun to the art men have a special way of looking at quilting. One of my favorite quilters now on KZbin is Stuart Hillard from across the pond.

Jenny Doan was instrumental in my learning and enjoying quilting. She is real, honest, and her instructions are simple and so easy to understand. She is so much more interested in teaching and sharing her wonderful experiences about a craft that she loves than trying to peddle fabric or crafting supplies. For that reason I check Missouri Star quilt company first for my quilting needs. She is my go to person or website when I need inspiration. Thank you Jenny for opening the doors to your creative business and inviting us all in and sharing your hobby and your family.

Great story! She is a nice KZbin presence. Since I enjoy quilts, the tutorial videos she and other channels do and show really entertain and inform me of the joy of crafting in fabric. I plan to do a tiny quilt (a table runner) just to get my feet wet before I try an actual larger quilt. I bought a kit from another quilter in Grants Pass, Oregon. I just love these "small town" stories! Note: why do we quilt?! It gets our mind off of everything else while we are focusing on the fabric, the cutting, the piecing, and the color placing, and the sewing! It really is meditative! It is my meditation. No doubt that is why others quilt, too.
