Pola thank you for doing what no other person/ book source has done. I have been looking for near two years and lots of quilting/ sewing books and now on my second day with you are here! A good start has to be your trimming both pieces together first. I am very new but a long time in other materials like metal, wood, plywood panels with a little care and prep this is how we can make seamless joints using sheet metal welding or a bit of glue and clamps. Your example to me has to be spot on here!! Great Job!
