Hi Judy. You have No idea how much these tutorials have helped me. I’ve been watching them over and over for weeks and finally feel confident to start cutting. I’ve had the Desert Rose for a Long time but it’s going to get done now!! Thank you again😍

My pattern, the Prismatic Star, has 12 sheets of identical foundation papers. However there are slight differences in size. It is very hard to line up corners of the pattern, pin through 12 sheets, and not have them shift. Donna Waldron

Hi Donna! The papers are all identical when printed. Have you sewn fabric to them? Pressed them? On occasion, seams, stitch length, and also pressing can make them slightly different. But, it's minimal. Most people trim one piece at a time, then remove papers and sew together. Sometimes, people trim one, then use that as a template to trim the others. In anycase, your printed pages will be identically sized when you start. It's why we use CAD and print in a printing press. If you feel they are way off, you can send a picture to judel@quiltworx.com and we can take a look and give you some advice.

@@Quiltworxcom I finally got the foundation papers cut apart. It was the overall size of the newsprint that was off, sometimes by as much as 1/4 inch. When I focused on pinning through a point on the actual diamond patterns, I had better luck. I am watching all of the videos now before I start sewing anything. I still find the printed instructions very difficult to understand...particularly the complex numbering system. In the directions, it says to stack your fabrics from darkest to lightest for each color family used. But then I look at the picture on the cover sheet, and it doesn't look like that is what you did for the sample. For instance the purple diamonds are half purple, and then half gold or half purple and then half light blue. It would have helped a great deal if you would have given a COLOR chart showing which fabrics were used in each diamond. I am trying to imagine my fabrics in your design but it is very difficult.

@@donnawaldron2880 we used a strip set that was stacked that way. Just follow those directions. Lightest to darkest. 🙂 And yes... The newsprint sheets are not all perfectly the same size but the printed units are.

I’m curious why we are tracing the dashed lines on the back rather than the solid sewing lines.
@Quiltworxcom

Sorry I missed this question! But, the dashed line gives you a good for the area your fabric must cover .. including the seam allowance. So, it helps you make sure you have the entire area covered. If you had only traced the Sew line (solid), you may not place your fabric correctly to cover the area it needs to and be short on your seam allowance.

As a left handed person would it be better to sew numbers in reverse? Which means I’d start with #20 instead of #1.

Penny Hulse don't sew in reverse! You have to sew the lines in order. Simply turn the template layout sheets upside down so you can slide the ruler in the direction that's not in the way when you cut.

a lot of waste with these patterns; why is it necessary to have templates & Units used to sew. the instructions with the pattern are at best confusing and poorly illustrated. it would be helpful to have an accompanying video to explain the how's of the construction. I paid for a class this weekend where the instructor basically told us to read the instructions, probably will not do another one of these. the instructions/pattern really doesn't explain the differences between "units" & "templates"
