I can’t wrap my head around the fact that this kid was born in 2008. Less than a year ago the European record was 44.3 and he just ran 44.6 in a qualification run.

I understand what you are saying, it just doesn’t work like that, does he have the commitment and sacrifice needed to dominate, right now he is running of pure talent, a lot of things can change when you start dominating at 16

@@jaahmaan1 naw...he's running off of talent and hard work! It just comes down to him staying healthy as he grows into adulthood and getting with the right coach who can aid him in maximizing his talent. I'm sure that young man works hard, no one runs a 44 off of pure talent, there is some hard work that goes into that as well!
@jaahmaan1

@@Carlos.288 not when you sixteen, it’s a reason why no one else in the history of the world has done that at that age, I’m sure he trains hard, but I can bet you if he and his competitors do minimal training who are 16, they would get annihilated by him, because of his raw speed and strength
@Carlos.288
@Carlos.288 3 ай бұрын
@@jaahmaan1 yes, i agree his genetics are very good, obviously. But he also won the 4x400 at nationals, and Bullis has had many fast 400m runners, so the coach is definitely doing more for him and his teammates than coasting off their talent.

@@joey1408 His coaching team is going for lower. Kid has been running the 400m since 7 years. At 8 years old he was beating 12 year olds. It was the funniest sh*t because he was so small he could have passed for 5 or 6 years. I am sure his parents had a time trying to contain all that energy so they probably put him in track just to make him go to sleep at night.

Not sure if this is a good strategy to run this fast in the 1st round. Usually you just want to run fast enough to qualify for semis and than all out in the final. Kid has great potential but I'm sure he will gain experience as time progresses.

my worst fear for this guy is that he peaks early. i hate that all athletes aren't always able to get better/maintain their form, and 44.66 at 16 is beyond ridiculous. All I can do is pray hard and wish this dude an injury-free future, with lots of great coaching and success. Potential given his age is limitless, and I just hope we can only see his best for the future.

Great race but even at 16 doesn't mean his times keep getting lower. He might have hit is plateau much earlier than most. Erriyon Knigton being a prime example of a high schooler with impressive times. I do hope this young man hasn't peaked too early, because I love his attitude and where his heart is.
@imhereforitall9218
@imhereforitall9218 3 ай бұрын
You may want to watch his coach interview. They use a different philosophy. His coach does not believe in peaking too soon. He believes if one has the talent they have the talent to run and they approach each part of the race in 50m and Quincy has to stay within his own race and knows there are 4 races within 1 each at 50m. They apparently have already simulated the rounds so we may see his times lower because the coaching staff ensured that he knows this is the same but a different race and it has to be executed precisely. We will see if he makes it out of the next round.
