Ford Edge - TOP PROBLEMS & ISSUES 2015 - 2024 (common fixes, repairs, defects)

I will start by saying Ford Edge is a very safe and reliable SUV. Every vehicle will have its own faults and defects, but Edge is among the ones I would recommend as there is nothing really too major to be concerned about.
1. Some vehicles will display check engine light on with codes P0011, P0012, P0013, P0014, P0015, P0016, P0017, P0018, P0019, P0021, P0022, P0024, P0025. Those are transmission codes usually caused by VCT solenoid which is sticking due to small debris. Best fix is to replace the solenoid.
2. Some consumers are reporting transmission failures on 8-spped automatic transmission. SUV hesitates when accelerating at lower speed and it jerks. With time transmission fails. I haven't experienced it myself but something definitely to keep an eye out for if in market to buy Ford Edge. Make sure to test drive it and make sure it shifts and accelerates smooth.
3. Some Eco boost engines have oil leaks from the turbocharger oil supply line and drain tube. Fix is to replace seals and lines.
4. Parking lights will stay ON when trailer is connected to the vehicle and vehicle is turned off. This can drain the battery. Problem is the software in the trailer module (TRM) and it needs to be updated by the Ford dealer.
5. Ford SYNC issues. Screen is black or freezes, backup camera not working, Bluetooth not working, etc. First you can try doing the soft (master) reset through the screen. If it doesn't help than do the hard reset by removing Ford SYNC fuse. Third thing is update the Ford SYNC software via WI-FI or USB.
6. Rear central seatbelt when buckled in can get stuck and unable to be unbuckled.
7. Blower motor will get noisy with time and eventually fail. It will have to be replaced.
8. Power Liftgate will stop working. Usually problem is again within the software and RGTM (rear gate trunk module) will have to be updated by the Ford dealer.

Thank you for this detailed list of problems and solutions. I plan to buy a 2016 Ford Edge Titanium with V6 engine and 93,000 miles. The Ford dealer in Tulsa, OK says it comes with a 3 month / 4,000 mile warranty "on 1,000 items". I feel like I should show them your video and make sure everything it updated (including the rear lift gate software). Should I also have them put it on a lift, so I can look underneath? It has spent its entire life in Oklahoma... so, not too much snow.

Hi, if you are buying from Ford dealer they should update all the software on it before selling it to you. It literally takes 15 minutes to plug in their oem scanner and update everything. Now it is always a good idea to have the vehicle pre-inspected before buying it, it kind of all depends how much you trust them. If you lift the vehicle you will be able to see possible oil leaks, possible frame damage, rust spots. I am in a car business and lifting each car once I buy it is the first thing I do. Also V6 is a really good engine, I like it much better than new 4CYL turbocharged ones

2019 ford edge titanium 177k Problem with the hesitant issue took it to ford but they changed ptu and transmission fluid and that didn't work so i took it to a transmission shop and found the problem being the tourque converter so it needs a reman transmission and new tourque converter. This happened during highway speed it hesitates let of the throttle and goes normal then goes back to hesitation again. But this started last year i figured it being the PTU or transmission fluid from what i was researching but here i am now found the problem. Cost to fix $6700 plus the install also getting a new tourque converter no price on it yet hope to know August 1st 2024 from Ford

Hi it could be a number of reasons, it is very hard to tell without proper diagnostics. Could be a misfire and vehicle needs tune up or could be fuel related, air / fuel ratio, or transmission related. Sorry I can't help more

Yes happens quite often. Try resetting ford sync by removing the fuse or run the update and see if that fixes it
