Dodge Charger - PASSIVE KEYLESS ENTRY LF ANTENNA LOCATION (2011 - 2021)

In this video I am showing the location of all 5 Low Frequency Passive Keyless Entry Proximity Antennas on latest generation of Dodge Charger sedan ( 2011 | 2012 | 2013 | 2014 | 2015 | 2016 | 2017 | 2018 | 2019 | 2020 | 2021 | SE | SXT | R/T | LIMITED | HEMI | 3.6L ).
Some of the symptoms of failed Keyless Entry Low Frequency Proximity Antenna on Dodge Charger are: Key fob and keyless entry not working, remote starter not working, lock / unlock buttons not working, enter 'n go door handles not working, car not starting, key not detected message.
It took me quite long time to locate each of the Passive LF Antennas and to figure out which one is faulty on my Dodge Charger, so I decided to make this video.

There is total of five Keyless Entry Antennas on Dodge Charger. I recommend first have your Dodge scanned for any codes to try and pinpoint which LF Passive Antenna is faulty. It will make your life much easier.
Antenna #1: Middle Console (Enter 'N Go Door Handles, Keyless Entry)
Antenna #2: Trunk Area / Spare Tire (Remote Starter, Passive Entry)
Antenna #3: Rear Bumper Area (Keyless Entry)
Antennas #4 and #5: Rear Doors Area ( Proximity / Passive Entry)

Hello, unfortunately I never installed remote starter. I have a good car electrician who does it for me. But yes I believe you will need the antenna and hood latch really depends on the type of aftermarket starter you are planning to install

so I had ripped out the wiring on my exterior front door handle. It’s the wire that makes the keyless entry work, It’s that button on the door handle that makes it where you can lock it basically. I got a new door handle and wires for it but it’s still not locking by button. Locking it by the key fob it’s fine but the button still doesn’t work. I had my mechanic install it and everything. I have the diagnostic report Dodge said and I got those parts but still nothing . You got any tips or advice for me

Hmmm hard to say that happened. You would probably have to pull out the new handle and inspect everything (all the wiring and electrical connections). Possibly there is a damaged wire which was not seen while new handle was installed. Also try inspecting the wiring at the driver door jab behind the rubber sleeve. Sorry I can't help more

I just bought a 2015 charger and the one behind the rear bumper is hanging. I would like to fix it myself. Do happen to have a picture of how it is supposed to be mounted?

Hi, sorry unfortunately I don't have a picture. Usually it comes with a small bracket which attaches where it is supposed to be. But you can improvise by using zip ties or something similar and attach it somewhere safe. Other option is to go to Dodge dealer and ask to see the schematics and ask for the mounting bracket. They should be able to help you

My 2011 Charger only registers my key for push start if the key fob is in the cup holder. Do you know which antenna that would be?

Hmmm it would probably be the antenna under the middle console. But first make sure that battery in the fob is new. Also best way to test all the antennas is using a higher end obd2 scanner, connect to the module and run diagnostics

I have 2012 Dodge Charger Police. I bought it from the police in non running condition. I tried using the key fob wasn’t getting nothing and a no key detected on the dash. But I replaced the key fob battery and the key fob is working to unlock to doors but still not starting the car?

You will most likely have to tow it to Dodge dealer to reprogram the keys and / or possibly get new fob and freshly program it. Had this problem on couple of ex police vehicles. There is the setting in the module regarding Fleet vehicles. I think it is called Key Alike. Possibly you will need a new RF hub. It was quite a while i did this, but I remember it was a HUGE problem as Dodge technicians had absolutely no idea about it. i came with instructions I got online to the shop and then they did it

Hard to say. First make sure the battery in key fob is new and as per specs. Then if still the same problem could be the key fob itself or one of the antennas

​@@QuiteAlright I doubt the rear antenna because there is an old accident in the rear bumper But there is no sign of malfunction on this antenna, such as breakage or malfunction

All the antennas can be tested by higher end scanner which can access the module and that is the safest way to see which one is faulty or maybe just the fobs need to be reprogrammed

Good afternoon sir, I just purchased a 2012 Dodge Charger police from local city auction. However they didn’t provide any key fobs. I have had several locksmith try to program new key fob but where unsuccessful. Some said maybe bad antenna. I tried with my Autel ms906bt and it said test aborted security access denied. I hate to go to the dealer. Do you have any information you give me it would be really appreciated. Also there is a omega alarm hooked up, but I disconnect it..

Hello, I know exactly what is happening as I had same problems with police charger few years ago. Took me a long time and multiple mechanics and shops to figure out what has to be done. We tried replacing the antennas, played with wiring and alarm system. Nothing worked. Unfortunately you will have to take the vehicle to the Dodge Dealer. They will have to access I think it was called RF module and disable fleet keys ( key alike function). After that is done you won't be able to start the vehicle or drive it. Now at that point new retail fobs have to be programmed. Without disabling that there is no chance to program a new key fob. Main technician at Dodge dealer had absolutely no idea what I was talking about so I ended up coming in their shop with printed instructions what to do. And then he was able to program only 1 new key fob out of 2 that I brought it. It was a huge huge pain. Hope this helps. Unfortunately I can't find those instructions I had on how to do it exactly.

Good evening sir, So I’m next week I’m going to bid on some 09,13, and possibly 17 Tahoes and they don’t provide keys. By chance do you know the process for the getting a new Tahoe key for these. I have a guy that does the chargers. Just curious on any insight you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

@@chaseaustin6898 Hi, I never had to get a new key for Tahoe as usually the ex police ones I bought came with bunch of keys. I know they use plain Chevy Key which is chipped but Automotive Locksmith should be able to make you keys at the spot. Worst case scenario is that you would have to tow the vehicles to closest Chevy Dealership so they cut and program the keys and I would include that cost in estimate before bidding on those cars. If they are ex police or ex fleet units, automotive locksmith might not be able to program keys as there could be some kind of fleet lock in the system and Chevy Scanner would have to be used to change settings and program keys if that makes sense.

Could be the problem with the sensor which is inside the door handle. In that case the door handle would have to be replaced. Or maybe it is just disabled in the system, in that case I think you would need to take it to a dealer so they can access the module and re-enable it

You will have problems with remote starter or lock / unlock buttons, trunk button. To test the antennas you would have to connect higher end obd2 scanner which can access the module and run the diagnostics test

Hi, no not really. I had a problem where fobs did not work due to vehicle being in fleet mode. But it would start and drive. If the key is not recognized and you get a message you might have a problem with the antenna, but if it just doesn't crank could be a starter or immobilizer

@@michoacanohh2227 it looks like there could be a problem with your key fob as it is not emmiting on distance. Did you made sure the battery in the fob is new? That is the first thing that crosses my mind, weak battery in fob will do exactly that. Antennas are probably working, just have hard time reading the fob

This antennas are mostly connected to keyless entry, remote starter and push button start. It seems like your message has something to do with the antitheft system. Could be the problem with the key fob which has a chip that has to be read by the car. Try scanning the vehicle for codes which should then point you towards the right direction
