I actually had met one guy on vr who was homeless and would play regularly while staying in hotels. After a while he stopped going online and I had assumed the worst. Then a month or so ago I was thinking about him again and checked his profile. He was online for the first time in years! I immediately joined because I didn’t think it was true. Turns out he turned his life around and now has a wife, kids, and an overall very stable life. Edit: One thing I forgot to mention that almost broke me when I had talked to him is that he was so happy that he could finally have actual food everyday and not just ramen. Also on a more comedic side the last avatar he wore before returning was an among us avatar. So for like a year every time I checked his profile it was just among us. (Also this was on vrchat if you were wondering)

One summer when I was around 9/10 years old (I'm the oldest of my brothers and cousins) my mom's side of the family decided to have a reunion. Everyone from my mom's side went, including my uncle and cousins. My grandpa was so excited to finally show us off to his brothers because we were the last of the grandchildren in the family; all of his brothers already had grandchildren. Which was crazy because my grandpa was also the oldest of his brothers. He thought we were just so cool. Anyway, on the way to Oil City, Pennsylvania, my mom took us on a whole tour of Washington DC, every monument, even Arlington cemetery, and even the Smithsonian. For her, however, it was also a path down memory lane. My mom actually used to live near Arlington cemetery, and showed us all of her old houses. So we asked if we could maybe go inside one, and she was taken aback because she never thought of the possibility. So one of the houses we went to--the one she had the most vivid memories of--we knocked on the door and asked the family if we could have a tour of the house. It's probably the weirdest thing you can do, looking back, but my mom was lucky enough to have a bunch of boys who could conduct themselves for a short period, and the family also had children right around our age, too. We walked through the whole house and you could just see it on my mom's face. She was a teenager when she lived at that house and told us all kinds of stories about it. It was the first time I had ever really witnessed someone experiencing real nostalgia. Truly a special moment for her, and seeing how special it was made it a memory I'll never forget about my mom.
