I appreciate how thorough and articulate you are. Even here discussing how you made a personal life choice like in this video. I just came across your channel a few days ago and have found myself coming back to watch more videos just because of how articulate you are. There is just so much dumb stuff on the internet and I’m glad to have found your channel where I feel like I’m being educated on topics that actually matter to my life. Also, you should never be worried about what you’re going to do if for some reason you don’t want to do KZbin anymore. You have marketed yourself so well online (I.e. professional, articulate, etc.) that people will be making you job offers if you say you’re looking for a job. Thank you for what you do!

Absolutely love this video Daniel! The Freedom & Flexibility involved with working for yourself and in your case running this KZbin channel full-time is so massive. Would love to just take a spontaneous trip here and there but of course corporate world restraints don't typically allow for that. Obviously the biggest factor is the Happiness which you outlined in the Time to Quit My Job section, and everyone should pursue whatever career falls underneath that. For me, I think ultimately I'd love to work for myself in some capacity so loved this video and related to a lot of it. Great video as always!

I think starting something and growing it on the side is the best way to do it because it acts as a small "proof of concept" and lowers the risk a bit. Still risky to quit no matter what though, but I tried to lower that risk as much as I could in my situation

Your growth has been inspiring. I dream of the day that I can simply go to the gym at 11 a.m. 😅. The health insurance cost is always something that’s in the back of my mind whenever I think of taking YT full time, but the politics of “corporate” America is so annoying.

Lol yeah it's great - I'm about to get ready to go hit the gym in the middle of the day right now as I'm writing this 😂 Corporate American has lots of problems - some companies realize this and have gotten better with addressing and fixing these issues. @Daniel_Braun7 ай бұрын
Personally I'm not worried about that at all because I've got a really good process of creating new video topics (I've got a list that's like 500 items long haha) Everyone approaches their channel a bit differently though. I've approached mine with longevity in mind and I try to create content that's more evergreen and less news-related which gives me more freedom to not rush making content just to make content, if that makes sense. But yes, burnout is a very real thing on KZbin so I'm trying to be very proactive to avoid in ever being an issue
@JazzyMarineVet7 ай бұрын
Good question. Flexibility and being quick and nimble makes a difference. I remember during Covid, plenty of guys have EDIL/Paycheck protection videos, especially one loudmouth guy Jason with a potty mouth. He was over 200k Subs. But as people started returning to work and pandemic relief money flow stopped, his subs cratered from to 75k as of today. Daniel has a wide variety of topics to discuss, so he, and other content creators, have more runway.

Hey Daniel, wanted to get your thoughts on the Credit Card Competition Act? My wife and I just got to gathering our points and with this bill being proposed, they'll be diversifying the networks that companies can use to transact their "swipe fee's". I can see it being a huge help for small businesses, but the fact that they're saying it will help curb costs for bigger companies like Target and Walmart and extend those savings to their customers is a huge "If". We wanted to start using points to travel and it seems like this will put a stop to those plans unfortunately since (if this goes through), banks will need to recoup their costs elsewhere to pay for CC benefits.

Im a new subscriber. This video is really interesting to me. As someone whos been in the corp world for 20 yrs now i had so many thoughts watching it. Also interesting insight into how a whole new generation thinks about work. My first thought was that you mentioned hitting a plateau/not liking ur corporate job relatively quickly. Within i believe about 2 yrs of working. I would say for many that is not really enough time to know if u like the work/field. Those first few yrs in corp world vs college is a huge shift. Although it seems maybe you made a quick decision you definitely did the right thing by not quitting without backup money. And u r totally right…take the big risks when you are young and dont have a mortgage or kids/parents to take care of. Im glad u mentioned benefits because i will say as i have gotten older that has gotten much more important. And im counting things like work from home ability in that bucket. The old corporate mentality just doesnt get it that benefits are important. Both in things like 401k match but also in true flexibility. But in the end u summed it up well. Do what makes u happy. Work is not ur life no matter what some greedy corporate boss wants u to believe. U will never regret trying something that brings u joy. I’ve learned there is no such thing as a “safe job” anymore. Congrats on making it work on ur own and enjoy those Mondays!
@Daniel_Braun7 ай бұрын
First of all, thanks for subscribing! I really appreciate you leaving your thoughts as someone who has been in the corporate world for 20 years. I think the pandemic and working from home really took me out of the rhythm of my day to day working life and was the thing that made me come to this realization a lot earlier than I would have otherwise. I have a feeling that many other people my age had a similar thing happen in their early career at that point. But yeah I definitely tried to prepare as best as I could before making that jump to being fully self-employed! There were a lot of other details about the job I was at before that I left out as well, but overall I don't regret it at all when I left. I actually think that disliking my job made the decision to quit a lot easier - because if I liked my work then I may have stayed longer. Thanks again for a great comment! I'll definitely be looking forward to Monday next week as always haha

Too bad you don't ever talk about Discover Cards. Is that because of the nonexistent affiliate program? hahahha
@Daniel_Braun7 ай бұрын
Talked about it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bpybd5eOfM-njbs And here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/h6mlZ3mppamZfbcsi=WPKSWkm_nHdMQP7b Nothing preventing me from talking about it, I honestly think it’s one of the best starter cards / cash back cards which is why I talked about it in those 2 recent videos. Some of the cards I talk about don’t have affiliate links. Some cards do. Affiliate links vary so I just provide what links I can which are totally optional for people to use. I only try to share my thoughts here on the channel based on my own experiences 👍
