Alastor seems to want to be like Lucifer or the Devil, who watches over mortals, tempts them and sees them fall. Although in the form of a voodoo serial killer, the Hotel might be his chance to play the part in doing so. So Charlie's Dad is very likely to see him as a son or at least a reliable Overlord, in having similar interests.

So there are a few cool easter eggs in this pilot 1. When Charlie sings her song in the studio, if you go frame by frame you can see the early concept arts for Loona and Blitz! 2. Charlie's song and Alastor's song are opposite to each other 3. In Helluva Boss in the circus episode Robo Fizz says this- No copyright infringments ever filed - then proceeds to sing the opening line of Charlie's song from the studio!

Some fun facts about the characters: -Charlie is daughter of Lucifer and Lilith (Lilith being the first female God created who turned against God before he made Eve) she's hellborn so is probably very strong but too nice to show her true strength. She's bisexual -Vaggie is Salvadoran if I remember correctly which is why she speaks Spanish when threatening Alastor. She died around 2016 or so and is the youngest of the main cast. She is in a relationship with Charlie and is a Lesbian. -Alastor was a radio host/serial killer/cannibal from the early 1900s and died in 1933. Hes from Louisiana and is part Creole (hence the voodoo and jambalaya) His design is based on the Wendigo (you can see deer ears and antlers on his head plus hoof tracks on his shoes). He always smiles since he sees it as a sign of superiority over others. He is also asexual. -Angel dust died from PCP overdose (hence the name) and is from an Italian mafia family. I think he died in the 40s or 50s. He is canonically gay but I think he's willing to hook up with anyone for a price. -Nifty died in the 50s or 60s or something, we don't know much about her. -husk died in the 80s? Not sure but I heard he's pansexual. Not too much is known about him either

On Husk, I think it's both canon and/or decided by the fandom that he's likely a weary veteran. His apathy and general lack of care may indicate that he's a Vietnam vet. Mainly because, of all the wars that the U.S. had fought up until that point, Vietnam is the only war where the veterans were not welcomed home. This is all personal head canon, but I can see him being a former soldier of the period and growing tired of existence, before eating the barrel of a gun. That last bit is applicable because suicide is considered a pretty heinous sin in certain sects of Christianity and in certain Christian scripts outside of the Bible. Or . . . he might have went the route of suicide by cops.

Something that's only just barely hinted at is that Charlie could wipe Alastor out of existence at any time she felt the need. For all his power, Alastor is still only a damned soul. Charlie is Hell's heiress, with only her parents holding more raw power. Having watched this, I highly recommend watching the 'Addict' music video, which is centered on Angel Dust. The lyrics (written by a fan and made canon by Vivzie because she loves it so much) and animation show exactly the kind of situation he's dealing with in Hell. It also shows just how strong his bond is with Cherri Bomb and that he's not nearly as cynical about the hotel as he shows.

Charlie, the nice demon she is, might only need to be pushed that far into annihilating any demon into dust. Maybe hearing Vaggie or anyone from the Hotel were to ever be harmed or worse, she doesn't seem to since she chose to be more human and fought hand-to-hand as supposed to summoning monsters at her command. Alastor is probably one of the top of the list of sinners to be redeemed and be the most stubborn when it comes to self-improvement. What's worth mentioning is that not only does he have powers, but willingly uses it often, when they met. Teleporting around, commanding demons, he's what Charlie isn't, same goes to her. They could learn from one another and be one hell of a team.

@@cherrygrabber7172 What gets me is Katie Killjoy thinking she can bury Charlie and threatening her. Charlie seems to not want part of the demonic power she has by birthright. Which is likely part of the tension between her and her father. I don't know where this is all going, but I think a really important part of the arc is going to be Charlie having to come to terms with who she is... the daughter of Lucifer, the heir to the throne of hell, the 2nd or 3rd most powerful being in hell. In a way that doesn't also compromise who she chooses to be.

A few notes about alabasters character: Prior to him showing up Angel Dust makes a comment saying ‘No one will think it’s stupid they’ll think it’s sad like orphans with no arms or progeria’ When alabaster does show up he immidiately comments ‘I saw your television broadcast and haven’t been this excited since the stock market crash of 1929… so many orphans.’ Showing that he’s not mocking her idea at all of wanting to do what she wants how she wants in hell/her ‘I have a dream song’ for EVERYONE but herself, or even directly mocking the estate or family. He will find joy in mocking the other guests as they fail to peruse their dreams thus charlie failing in her dream. His statement later affirming that to Charlie should have been a clear indication to that regard. Charlie actually made a huge mistake not taking Alabasters deal .. okay so Alabaster knows what Charlie thinks of him she’s loud and the door was pretty thin he’s aware she knows of his title who he is and what he does. Alabasters deal was ‘I will help you’ with that being Sealed and Made into a Contract: Alabaster will help Charlie and Her Hotel. She refuses this deal to which he isn’t upset just tilts his head as if to hear her out because she’s gonna say smt she thinks in brilliant. She says ‘As a princess I order you to help out with this hotel as much as you’d like for as long as you’d like.’ To which he agrees. Why does he agree to this loose verbal agreement/Decree made by a Princess. Either in legal aspects he can claim it was an order by the highest member of society to participate and work with them -this still benefits alabaster as it helps his already high rank he now has a direct in to the higher ups via being a worker for the boss’s daughter. His other goal is that instead of being Bound to help her and not double cross her or decide not to help in a key moment Alabaster has been given even looser arrangements of working commitments. He doesn’t have to help her if he doesn’t want to even if helping her is in the best interest of her and if the hotel. He now has to do less work and be less involved and committed with the project or with Charlie’s specific ideas. He doesn’t have to be a yes man or a butler he’s allowed to just not wanna do it and walk away. Alabaster got everything he could have wanted in that situation (help charlie with the hotel) only now he’s not obligated under any contract to do that, he’s not obligated to listen to her, he’s not an explicit person staying at the hotel seeking redemption but he gets all the hotel benefits, and he has connection to Charlie and the family tree as the apples don’t fall far. I seriously think Alabasters first ‘You wanna make a deal/bet on it kid’ was intentionally done as a threatening bluff so that the odds would be more in his favor when she ultimately refused the threat. After she says no he’s not upset in the slightest the window of the hotel gets broken in but Alabaster is upset that his song was cut off and he wasn’t able to continue to manipulate Charlie via song, someone tried to give him the hook off stage and that pissed him off. After being outside the hotel he looks at Charlie’s work which he said he would help in and ReBrands it! Both interior and exterior, it doesn’t flow with Vees wants and doesn’t flow with Charlie’s original wants but she’s willing to put that aside to try it out and be a team player. ITS HER BUSINESS AND HOTEL and the name she put on it was erased in a second by a sparkle beam and new hire? He’s not even management but he’s doing more then the owner to get the place filled with people he’s not doing so with the intentions or the ideas that the owner had in mind for the place at all. Part of why he’s able to do all this is his song. Before he sings he idles around inside and looks at all the photographs of Charlie with her family in their little Apple hats at the carnival and her big smile, and what does he do? He mimics the song she sang on tv (the one he found tragically hilarious in terms of failure) he takes images from the photos he saw in her living room and creates a musical number that they dance to together as they look at apples fireworks swing music and cotton candy. And Charlie is Lapping it up. A guy she knows is dangerous and didn’t consider letting in the house 5 minutes ago toured the place and gave her a monologue song that specifically targeted her heartstrings. Alabaster is twisted and a very very specific kind of demon who did famous talk show interviews with famous individuals. He’s similar to the first TV host you see except he acts MORE like a producer and less like the star of a show because he’s gotten TOO famous bored and old in hell to have a basic bitch job. (He’s too threatening to be hired, and he’s targeted by people who are willing to start turf wars in order to attack just him for 5 seconds of which he can crush them into a parallel dimension with a snap. He gains nothing by being a regular sports announcer in hell even if he was one on earth, he realizes there’s other ways to crush people and to spend time/money/what is entertainment to himself and others

I'm laughing my ass off, seriously Also re: what Lucifer likely said to her: It would make sense that Lucifer isn't thrilled about Charlie's plan to get people into heaven, first of all because as the Prince of Pride, he seems to have a vested interest in getting as many people as possible (also from what we've seen in Helluva Boss, there seems to be a good reason for demons to tempt sinners), but also: He knows what Heaven is like, and for whatever reason he decided that he'd rather explode half the world than stay there. I imagine it's like when you used to work in a specific industry and you had extremely bad experiences there, and then your kid wants to get into that industry, you might also want to keep them from experiencing the same things you did.... But then again, if you look at the Hotel closely, you see all these family photos and symbols of Lucifer (apples, mainly), which makes me think he likely let her have the hotel to try her little plan, which also is a kind of real support, even if you think what your kid is doing is hopeless. I also think if you're a Sinner who dies in hell, you just stop existing. Also, I write fanfic for this fandom (and helluva boss) and I have literally gone frame by frame through Charlie's two songs and the Hotel Scenes to get as many background info as possible, and HOLY FUCK they pack so much stuff into those 30 minutes??? There is soooo much lore to find in the background when you have seen Helluva Boss and read the two comics, if you like the worldbuilding of this series you should really read those comics and then come back and watch with a close eye to the backgrounds. I've binged all of your Helluva Boss videos before this, you're really freaking hilarious! You definitely made the time waiting for the next Helluva Episode a lot easier for me ☺

I kinda think Vivs is going the same route they did with Devil's Carnival regarding redemption. A sinner can be redeemed, but redemption isn't possible because ultimately god is an egotistical perfectionist who won't let his "mistakes" into heaven because it would be admitting to a mistake. Ultimately the only one in Hell who is truly being punished is Lucifer himself. In most lore that goes beyond the simple "lucifer = BAD" explanation, he left/got kicked out of heaven because he loved and pitied mankind. He questioned god on his decision to create man in his image, give them free will, then punish them for using it. For his defiance, god tasked him with redeeming lost souls, only to reject his work when it worked right.

Charlie is the third most powerful being in Hell, after her parents. She loves her people and wants to help them, even though they could care less about her help. They just see her as some ditzy girl. Unless they change it in the actual show, the only sure thing to erase a demon completely is with angel weapons. Demons have experimented with angelic technology and have made their own weapons with it. Alastor was a serial killer in life and he killed many in Hell until he became bored by it all. Then Charlie comes along and he finds a source of entertainment.

So when Sinners die in Hell, *_WHAT_* killed them is incredibly important. Anything natural to Hell or regular acts of violence will simply put them out of commission for an amount of time, & then they'll essentially "respawn." That guy hit by the car moments after entering Hell? He's fine. All the Sinners killed during the Angelic Purge are simply... _obliterated._ They don't "go" _anywhere._ This is why Charlie is trying to make this Hotel happen, to provide an alternative method of dealing with Hell's overpopulation problem that doesn't involve killing them permanently. Angelic weaponry, as stated in Helluva Boss Ep 5, is capable of *_permanently_* ending ANY denizen of Hell, with the possible exception of Lucifer himself & _maybe_ his direct family like Charlie. Though she probably COULD die from that, angels themselves wouldn't be ALLOWED to.

You mentioned a few things: that you're not _generally_ a big fan of musicals or musical numbers; that you started to enjoy the musical numbers in _this;_ and that part of your issue with Disney-style musical numbers is that they disrupt the flow of the plot and action. (Is that adequate paraphrasing?) Given all that, I have a suggestion: "Centaurworld". The series may or may not be your cup of tea, but all of its musical numbers are _integral to the story._ The musicals aren't just used for fluff or padding - they build either the plot, the characters, the world, or all three at once. Basically, it treats musical numbers like any other character dialogue or monologue, but it just _happens_ to be in song. (Also, the characters are _fully aware_ that they're "doing musical numbers" to communicate, and this "cultural practice" is itself a source of conflict for the protagonist.)

21:21 As far as I can find out, if a sinner is killed in Hell their soul goes into the nearest object and they stay there until that object is destroyed and the cycle continues. (The object then gets a face.) The only thing that can completely kill a sinner and destroy the soul is an Angelic weapon, and once a year angels come down from Heaven and purge as many souls in Hell that they can to keep the numbers down, otherwise Hell would run out of room from overpopulation.

I generally can't believe you haven't seen this yet but hey the more people know about this the better. We're just waiting on them to release a trailer for the series since it got picked up by A24 which still blows my mind. Yeah the part where that guy was picking up body parts and putting it in my cart he most likely belongs to the cannibal colony where they sell demon meat best time to do it is after the yearly extermination when The Exorcist Angels come down to kill earthborn sinners it's like The Purge if the purge was everyday but then there was a worse Purge once every year. And the spider Angel Dust is supposed to be gay and a cross dresser he will have sex with women for his job but it costs extra and I imagine like many people he's the reason I found out that I am actually bisexual. The only way a center can die is by an Angelic weapon if they die their soul becomes part of hell but they no longer exist the Soul's evilness just merges with whatever is around that's why you would see random eyes everywhere

This show is just such fun and we wouldn't have Hellva Boss without it. This was originally a story line from Vivizy's comic Zoophobia, but Zoophobia never materialized beyond some concept stuff. But she lived the demon centered story so much she developed it into this, and the show will be coming to HBO Max as Viv made a deal with A24 Studios. In fact episode 8 of Hellva Boss is in limbo because Angel Dust appears in it and A24 has issues with not makieng money off of it. Hellva Boss spin off as Hasbin was to have 2 Demonic Assassin's, Moxie and Blitzo, severing as a sort of "Team Rocket". But Brandon Rodgers convinced Viv that a sister series focused on Blitz was a better idea. If you keep an eye on the background of the news Station you can see Blitz and Loona in thier early designs. Charlie is the Daughter of Lucifer and Lilith, she is technically the 3 most powerful demon in hell, but wit her sweet Disney Princess additude she isn't well respected. But that's that point, Charlie is jistmtoo good for Hell and unlike her father wants to redeem sinners. During the yearly exterminations heaven sends Angels called Exorcists armed with angelic weapons to cull part of hell's population, as Lucifer has made it so Sinners can't leave the top ring of Pride over population is a problem. Sinners killed by exorcists "go back into the system" being reborn on earth with their previous selves and previous sins erased.

My question is, does Charlie really have the authority to make any of this happen? Does she have the green light from Heaven to send redeemed sinners their way? The reason I ask is Hell (in this series) seems to be comprised of people who have fully embraced their wickedness, if for no other reason than to put up a front and not appear weak to everyone else there, kinda like how someone would act in prison by appearing to be worse than everyone else there. If deep down any of them want redemption, it would mean dropping the front, which would make them all targets of everyone else in Hell. If Charlie goes through with this redemption program and turns out never OK'd it with Heaven, she's gonna have a mess on her hands.

Also when they die actually die they end up becoming part of hell all the eyes you see on buildings and ground n such. They become part of hell still alive they feel pain and all that but in a daze like state unable to actually process things not knowing who they are. It’s a date far worse then death more or less

I love your commentary :D It seems that Disney has ruined a lot of people's perspective on Musicals x'D , a musical number is supposed to progress the story, if you watch a musical witout the songs and you're still able to understand the story, then that's a bad musical. Charlie, well, she looks sweet, has a kind heart, but make no mistake, she is the daughter of Lucifer himself, and if she wasn't such a kind hearted individual dedicated to her goal, she could body Alastor like it was nothing. She never shows her true potential this whole time. one other thing i'll say, I do honestly think that Alastor will do his absolute best to assist. After all, how would it be entertaining to watch demons fail at redemption if he's rigging them to fail?

Sadly, they changed literally everything, from the actors to the art to the background and motivations of the characters for the actual series. HBO sucks for that, and it has lost all appeal ot had. Stick to watching Helluva Boss instead
