Fun Facts: Alastor, in life, was a radio host as well as a southern serial killer that lived in New Orleans, Louisiana. He died in 1933 after being mistakenly shot by hunters who thought he was a deer as he was getting rid of one of his latest victims. He is a Deer Demon as far as species go which is evident due to his antlers and deer prints on the bottom of his shoes. He has an extreme hate for dogs which might have to do with his death. He is also asexual. Angel Dust, in life, was born into a crime family and died in 1947 due to a drug overdose of PCP. He is a Spider Demon, explaining his multiple arms and venomous bite and is a gay pornstar but has still had sex with women. His boss, Valentino, sexually abuses him and mistreats him regularly which causes him to be very gated to people. That's the reason why he only truly trusts his pet pig, Fat Nuggets, and his best friend, Cherri Bomb who help keep him happy in Hell. Vivziepop, in a livestream, confirmed that his actual name is Anthony. Vaggie died in 2014 and her cause of death is unknown but some theories say that she might have been killed in a hate crime since she is a lesbian. She is Charlie's girlfriend and is Salvadorian which is why she asked Angel when he told her "Don't get your taco in a twist baby" if he was being "sexist or racist". She is a Moth Demon and Vivziepop has said she took moth inspiration to create Vaggie's design and she is very skilled with sharp objects as well as hand-to-hand combat. Charlie was born in Hell to her father, Lucifer Magne and her mother, Lilith Magne which makes her Princess of Hell. She is Vaggie's girlfriend and is bisexual which is why Katie Killjoy said to her "she doesn't touch the gays". She can conjure up fire as one of her abilities is pyrokinesis. She is very cheerful and loves to perform musical performances and make others happy. Cherri Bomb died in the 1980's and is a radical anarchist as well as Angel Dust's bestfriend. She is originally Australian but her accent only slips in sometimes and she is a One-Eyed Demon. She is speculated to have been killed in a turf war or by gang violence and she loves bombs and explosions.

It'd be an interesting development if Vaggie's death was hate-crime related, because so far Vivzie has very much been going with the 'characters are not their sexualities' approach. Obviously Angel Dust makes being hypersexual a part of his identity, but it's an actual character motivation and not just a shallow attempt at representation. While I wouldn't necessarily be opposed to Vaggie's death being related to her sexuality, I wouldn't be keen on it either. I love how natural all of the characters' sexualities feel so far, that they're just a part of the character and not the characters' entire identities. Makes them far more multi-faceted. But Vivzie's been great with her writing so far, so I wouldn't be surprised if she makes it interesting beyond just shock value/preaching. And I'm definitely buying into the 'Alastor was/is a cannibal' thing. The man brought up gumbo, the ultimate dish for disguising the type of meat being used XD

My favourite tiny details from the pilot: 1. At 16:44 it’s easier to hear in the actual episode but if you listen carefully, you can hear the sound of a zipper being done up right as Alastor says ‘ha… no’. 2. At 18:26 you can actually see Angel Dust step backwards out of frame so he has the space to get a decent running start to flying tackle Vaggie. 3. I consider Charlie to be a reverse-goth girl. You know like how some goths are raised in happy cheerful environments that try to keep them ignorant to the ugly side of life, even though they know deep down that the world is not all sunshine, rainbows and happy endings, and they try their hardest to embrace that harsh reality. The story of this is that to avoid overpopulation in hell, the angels demanded that they come down to hell once a year to kill as many demons as they can for a day before returning back to heaven in an event called "The Cleanse", though others also call it the "Extermination" as well. Charlie (the blond red cheeked and very happy girl) is the princess of hell and wants to try to rehabilitate demons in her hotel so they will "check out" into heaven so she doesn't have to watch her people get slaughtered every year. As you saw, most of hell thinks it is a stupid idea and even her father Lucifer doesn't approve of it, but Alastor the Radio Demon wants to attempt to help her make her dream a reality for his own amusement and his support is actually what is giving her what she needs to do so. Hope that cleared everything up in terms of what the plot of the show overall is.

An extra bit of info: the angels use spears with a special blade on the end that can permanently kill demons. Any other method used to kill a demon will just have them regenerate eventually, but those specialized spears make it so they don't come back. Those spears are highly valued in Hell (and almost certainly illegal to own and difficult to get ahold of). You can see at the beginning that the actress was killed by those spears, but by demons. The Cleanse is the ultimate time to off any rivals/enemies and make it look like it was the angels, and it is heavily implied that the actress who took over for the dead one arranged the hit. Also Vaggie owns an angel spear, and was using it to threaten Alastor. Please correct me if my info's out of date, this was all the case last time I looked into it XD

Since the pilot of Helluva Boss is so short, I'd recommend reacting to it in the same video as the Addict Music Video, which gives some character context for Angel Dust. The Helluva Boss series (not counting the pilot) currently has 7 episodes in season 1 and 2 episodes in season 2. 9 total. Also, Vivziepop has some other animated shorts worth watching like Son of 666, Timber, Holidaze, Bad Luck Jack (based on the webcomic Zoophobia), and Oh Millie. There's an after-credits scene, but it's nothing major, just a goofy little joke. Fun fact: Charlie and Alastor are both big fans of musicals. "Chasing Rainbows", the song Charlie sings in the opening, is from the 1918 vaudeville show "Oh, Look!" Later, when Alastor is looking around the hotel, he's humming "You're Never Fully Dressed Without A Smile" from the Broadway show "Little Orphan Annie" (hence his comment to Vaggie). Additional fun fact: A couple of the characters in the audience during "Inside of Every Demon Is a Rainbow" are early designs of Blitzø and Loona. They are not _actually_ Blitzø and Loona, just early drafts of their designs. Third fun fact: Because so _very_ many people have asked which would win in a fight, Vivzie has confirmed that Alastor's (the Radio Demon/Strawberry Pimp) and Stolas's (from Helluva Boss) abilities work very differently from each other, so much so that they're not really comparable, but just in terms of raw power, Stolas is stronger.

Sexuality isn't really binary, it's a spectrum. I'm a "straight" guy, but on a scale where 1 is so straight that you can't even watch porn with guys in it and 10 is the gayest of gay, then I sit at a 3, maybe 3.5. There's guys out there that I definitely find myself with small attraction to (Chris Hemsworth, Jason Mamoa... I have a type) and would probably do some sex stuff with if the opportunity arose, but I've zero interest in being in an actual relationship with a man. Realizing that sexuality is a spectrum is quite liberating.

If you are looking for other Hazbin Hotel content that tell about the story I would suggest the music video for the song Addict which is also on Vivzie's channel. It is a song performed by Cherri and Angel that has a little bit of hints to their stories in it. Also future episodes of Hazbin Hotel are planned but not out yet. It hasn't been revealed what streaming platform they will be coming to but the production studio A24 picked up Hazbin Hotel and are helping Vivzie make the full series. The new official character designs for the main characters have been revealed but that is all we know so far (the designs aren't too different, mainly just minor changes to the outfits).

Just some facts: 1. Alastor - in Greek mythology, he is a spirit of vengeance for crimes, who prosecuted the one who committed the crime and, as a consequence, imposed a deserved punishment Today's figurative meaning: A villain defiled by an unpardonable crime 2. Alastor claims that he hasn't been as entertained as he was during Charlie's musical number since the Stock Market Crash of 1929. Then people were eaven selling their own kids. "So many orphants" 3. Alastor was a radio guy and a serial killer. He got shot in 1933 by a hunter couse he got mistaken by a deer (that's why he has deer horns and has traces of deer at the bottom of his feet). Creator of the show also said that he does not like dogs due to the incident that causes his dead so many people asume that the hunter also had a dog. (Original charakter that was created long ago in middle school by Viz and had a name Alastor was actually a demonic deer very afraid of dogs, but Viz changed it to better fitt Hazbin Hotel cartoon) 4. Alastor believes that smiling is a sign of superiority whitch is why he always smiles (Seriously ALWAYS you never see him without a smile). 5. Alastor is asexual, Charlie is bi, Vaggie is lesbian, Angel Dust is gay. 6. Sir Pentious died in the late 1800s and that's why he doesn't understand the sex jokes. 7. Charlie was born in hell. She is a doughter of Lucifer and Lilith (the jewish mythical wife that Adam had before Eve, she tried to betraied God and she got sent to Hell) 8. The cleanse thing is when angels come to hell to erase some of the people due to overpopulation issue. 9. You can't die in hell. You will be just reborn again in hell. You can be erased tho. This can be made only with the angel weapon. Its a spear. You can see them at the beggining when they showed some angels. Also Vaggie have one. That's the one that she aimed in Alastor direction when he came to Hotel. 10. The song that plays when Alastor kills Sir Pentious is called "Sir Pentious f***ing dies". 11. Born into a crime family in New York, Angel Dust's human self died in 1947 following an overdose of phencyclidine (PCP), hence his namesake down in Hell. Since arriving in the underworld, his work for Valentino's studio allowed him to become the biggest adult film superstar in Hell, drowning out his world with narcotics and his twisted sense of humor. 12. Vaggie died in 2014 so she is there shorter than everyone else. 13. Razzle and Dazzle (the two creatures that we can see while they are playing music during Charlies song) were once Charlie's dolls that were brought to life by her father who were then given the task of becoming her personal bodyguards. They can play musical instruments such as the harp, piano, bagpipes, xylophones, and accordions. According to Vivziepop, Razzle and Dazzle both have a full demon form when angered, or someone harms/tries to harm Charlie, though it is yet to be revealed. 14. Charlie can easily switch to her demon form as we can see during her song. 15. Alastor is not a fan of modern technology and doesn't like using any technology that was invented after he died.

A small detail on Lilith (in mythology, not the one in the show): her 'betrayal' of god was her refusal to be subservient to Adam. Like Adam, she was made from dust, and afterwards god realized that was a 'mistake' because it made her too 'uppity'. So after banishing her from the Garden of Eden he made Eve from Adam's rib bone so that she would be subservient to him (since she was an extension of Adam, as opposed to an individual). Pretty messed up.

One lore tidbit that I feel is important (and highlights a difference between the story-telling of Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss) is that there are effectively two broad categories of demons residing in hell. First you've got "sinners" who were born as humans, lived, were very naughty, died, and wound up in hell as a result of their life choices. Hazbin Hotel features a great many sinners as the prominent characters (Alastor, Vaggie, Angel Dust, Sir Pentious, Cherri Bomb, Husk, and Nifty are all sinners, along with quite a few others!) The form a sinner takes can be reminiscent of various demonic animals (Angel Dust as a "spider-boi" or Sir Pentious as a "snake-demon" for example), more or less humanoid (like Vaggie or Cherri Bomb), or any number of wild shapes in between. The other broad type of demon are the "hellborn" -- creatures native to hell who were never living souls on Earth. In Hazbin Hotel only Charlie (daughter of Lucifer and Lilith) is a prominent hellborn character that we've seen much of so far. In contrast, all of the main cast of Helluva Boss are hellborn demons. Hellborn demons have their own social standings and classes, with Imps usually being the lowest of the lowly, Hellhounds and Succubi being a bit better off, and then up the social ranks all the way to the powerful demon princes -- including the family of demonic royalty known as the Goetia (from the mytho-historical? Ars Goetia.) Anyway -- I hope you continue to enjoy these very fun, and very irreverent, series!

You should definitely react to "Addict" if you haven't already, it's a song that has a lot of indirect (or direct, in some cases) background on how Angel Dust came to be the way he is and how Cherri Bomb helped him through it! It's super good too, even to just listen to in the background of other tasks if you like fast, energetic songs.
