I concur with this review. Can't wait for my KS copy to arrive!

This was one of my first backed games on KS and I'm glad that I backed! Even with all the hiccups with production Ryan Iler was extremely transparent with communication and what we should expect during that time. I had a chance to talk with Ryan personally about production at GenCon and even had the chance to play through with other backers during the last two GenCons. I will say there is a bit of AP with deciding what side you want to roll too but, at the time we were playing, we didn't have a second mini to plan things out. Overall I'm extremely happy with everything I've seen with the game, the support and communication Ryan gave us, and I can't wait to get it to the table when it arrives! =D

Looks like Robo Rally Dungeon Crawl... Yeeha! Though some of it looks like vintage game mechanics. Dying and coming back is kind of like a "go back to start" chance card. And those events are kind of like chance cards from the old games. Still, looks great, and I've been looking for a competitive dungeon crawler, which this sort of looks like...

Tom Vasel does Quodd Heroes Legacy!!! I rip up cards all the time, too, mostly KeyForge ones, cuz that is one superfluous game no one needs in their collection (yeah, I feel the same anger Tom does, but towards that game)
@Sam-vk8xd5 жыл бұрын
So you spend money on keyforge decks to tear them up and make the deck unplayable? Yeah... that’ll show the industry! You’ll kill FFG dead! Hahaha!

Same here, I cull those kinds of cards all the time, right along with the ones that lets you search a whole deck for a card of your choice.

I never use them myself but I'll never rip them, should I ever wish to trade or sell the game later.

Kinda feels like robot rally. With programming. But much more intense since story and etc
@RyChanneler5 жыл бұрын
It really isn't a programming game, its an action selection game since you aren't just setting up and seeing what happens as you would with Robo Rally or Mechs vs. Minions. With Quodd Heroes you always choose what you do through the cards you play and the direction you "tumble". In my opinion its a much less punishing system and way more fun.

Wow this game has way more stuff than when I saw a prototype version versions some years ago (the designer brought it over during a local board game night at a friend's house, some time before launching the kickstarter). Like wow, he went crazy component-wise, and most of the stuff looks way better than it did in prototype form too. Happy to see it in its final form, looks great!

I think you need to plan these out better. You could have taken footage of the cards and tiles by themselves and had them in focus. Then edit in those shots as you explained the game. It really distracts from your review when you keep picking up tiles and move them in front of the camera, causing it to go out of focus. Also, these seamed to be a stream of conscience talk. I never really understood what you were stumbling about with while you talked. Not trying to be negative, but you could do so much better with the quality of the videos.
@aonline_abridged5 жыл бұрын
Mathew while I understand your very logical suggestions, this has always been Tom's style, what you are suggesting fits other kinds of reviewers that put out cleaner more focused reviews. Tom has always been about the water-cooler style talk and semi-focus component peeks, which I appreciate and have liked for about a decade now.
@aonline_abridged5 жыл бұрын
and not to say he doesn't plan his reviews, he just doesn't structure it like a formalized speech , he has talked about his prep-process in the past.
@KristoVaher5 жыл бұрын
Beautiful components, but a very basic gameplay that tangles itself in fiddly AP due to different locations and tiles on your cube. I don't think anyone will be talking about this in a years time :/

I'm so going to make an awesome 3d printed insert for this. Cant wait to get my hands on it. Not too fond of the sound if that event deck though, random game changers are a no-no for me in games but maybe can just remove some or all of them.
@RyChanneler5 жыл бұрын
TodiloDaSloth Thematically the world is in chaos, earth quakes, strong winds, etc. thematically the world events make sense, most of my hundreds of play-testers like the world event deck. That being said there are 3 or 4 cards (like the card in question) that create more profound game change. Players can choose to just not play with those cards if they prefer to not have them. Chaos either created by the actions of other players, or the world events are part of this game though. Unlike games like Robo Rally or Mechs vs. Minions though, you ALWAYS have choices with your actions and are in full control of your character. This is NOT at its heart a "programming" game where you set of your turn and press go. In fact it really isn't a programming game AT ALL. Its an action selection game (tumble mechanism) with infinite scope for your actions through your cards and choices...

@@RyChanneler Ryan Iler I'm totally down with world events that I can work around but if I swap my upgrades or something major and I loose it's not in any way because of skill but pure bad luck and that I don't like. I'm one of those that despise Munchkin kind of games so I hope that doesn't come as a deal breaker as the rest seems great. Been looking forward since kickstarter number 1.
