Sir.. you got me through grade 12 mathematics and now you're helping me in university. Thank you so much!! Things just make sense when you explain them.

Do you have any tips for year 12 math good sir?

@@doyouarehavestoopid6589 Watch videos to explain the concept. Eddie Woo and khan academy are good at that. If there's a formula, don't use it until you know where it comes from and what each part of the formula means. Try to think while you study too. And practice to figure out what you know and don't know. Past papers are good for that, but actually try to write the paper in exam conditions without looking at the memo. Oh yes and time your attempt. Then mark your attempt with the memo and try to understand why you got stuff wrong so that you don't get it wrong again. If you still need help then ask your teacher or find a KZbin video that explains the concept to you and try the question again. Work through the memo for the question if you really struggle, but also ask yourself what is happening in each step so that you can start to understand why you're doing what you're doing to answer the question. And remember to read the question carefully. Then practice a bit more (textbook problems, etc) and try another past paper to see if you have improved. Don't redo the same past paper in the same 2 weeks- you will remember the memo so instead of testing your mathematics, you'll be testing your memory. It also helps to keep a list of the questions that you struggle with so that you can revise them instead of forgetting them and struggling with the concept next time you see it. But only revise them once every few weeks so that you are actually testing yourself to see if you are starting to understand. And use DR CPT (diameter, radius, cyclic quads, parallel lines, tangent) in geometry to remember what to look for. Use highlighters where necessary. Eddie Woo also has an exam prep video that you might find useful. Oh yes and take breaks too. If your mind just isn't taking in information or doing calculations then take a break or you'll get burned out and you'll start hating the work. Try not to adopt a negative attitude towards the work because you'll stop learning if you are negative about it or just don't want to do it. That's pretty much how I studied. I had a workbook full of wrong answers but then I got it right in tests because I learned from my mistakes. And this can also be generalised to work with any other subject. Hope it helps you.

I wish my college professor had explained calculus half as well as this high school teacher. Eddie Woo needs to be teaching teachers how to teach.
