Notice how it's so difficult for us to feel anything from the Quran despite listening to it. Every now and then we'll listen to a reel which has Sheikh Yasser el-Dosary and will love the recitation and even post it on our stories, but in our day to day life we don't have the attention span and love to listen or read for 5 minutes...
Reading about the Sahaba and how they cried reading some of the verses we recite every day in our prayers really told me to take a step back and notice what's wrong.

Honestly, After not listening to music for like idk, 3 - 4 weeks, I felt something when I'm listening to the Al-Quran and found out that life isn't that boring without music

i was in cairo last december and fell in love with the people and the language! i am now learning arabic and i am also learning more about islam because it resonates a lot with me. listening to recitations of the qur'an is the perfect blend of my focus. learning the arabic language and learning to read and understand the qur'an. alhamdulillah! i dont listen to music for my self. i never really did and when i did it felt forced because its a thing that a lot of other people do. i also never really got attached to a music style or artist mashalla! now i'm feeling happy when i get a opportunity to put my headphones on and listen to the qu'ran. i'm listening mostly to mishary al-afasy btw. i am not a muslim (i have not taken my shahada) but today i woke up early and prayed fajr and later dhur. inshaallah my understanding of the beautiful arabic language and my faith in the qur'an will grow more. peace be upon all of you

I never imagined stopping music and switching to the Quran would be so simple until I made frequent supplications and sought Allah's direction. Well, until I started praying frequently and seeking Allah for guidance, I never imagined that moving from music to the Quran would be so effortless. My situation was unique since I produced and edited music for several local musicians in my area, which involved extensive listening and editing. When my regular prayers became challenging because of the nature of my Work field, I realized something was wrong. In 2019, I launched a KZbin music channel, and by last year, I had over 50,000 subs and a steady income as consequence. However, working on the video editing, which entailed conveying a love story through male and female performers, seemed like I was collaborating with the devil himself and being led to hell. In a similar vein, I could makeup a song for days and listening to it throughout, it gets stuck in my brain and is hard to forget. But Alhamdulillah, a year ago I gave up on listening to any music at all, including my channel, even though it was my only source of earnings. I now live a stress-free existence and am focused on memorizing the Qur'an. You may be inquisitive about the sacred, but it is all about trusting Allah; prayer and patience.

I have watched so many videos on quitting music but this one is genuinely the best. Even amongst videos from islamic speakers/teachers, this is the best. The way you clearly articulate your thoughts and with compassion is a talent. Allahummbarik feekh, I hope you post more insightful videos like this.

1000000% !!! I will be talking about this in the future inshallah. The same way people listen to music and pick people they like, they can pick specific artists and specific surahs for a specific time and even specific Maqamat if they understand what they are. May Allah help you with your struggle.

I have not fully quit music yet (I have only stopped making personal time to listen it ex. playing it on spotify/youtube) but one thing I've noticed after lessening it from my life is that I used to be reciting lyrics in my brain ALL DAY. If someone were too look inside my brain they would have found random lyrics/songs more than actual thoughts. I restricted myself from it heavily in Ramadan and I've noticed that it does not play in my head as much anymore and I've literally forgotten lyrics to some songs I used to know by heart. This especially helps when praying Salah!! Although I haven't fully accomplished finding full focus in prayer, the presence of random lyrics stirring in my brain during salah has definitely decreased.

I know this might be very obvious but one thing I see people not take very seriously is how impactful music is to your emotional state. You can literally purposefully make yourself sad by listening to a sad song, even if you don't relate to it whatsoever. I'm not here to police anyone about anything, but from an objective stand point, it is very clear how much this can negatively effect your emotional state. I've found times where I was sad from a certain situation and I'd feel even more upset once I found a song with lyrics that could match up to my situation, even though nothing was there to make the sadness feel worse.

It's the same thing for me but with actual instruments in my head, as I am a musician. I play piano a lot as it has its benefits. But I've trying to cut back the music I've been listening to. You have any tips on how I can fully leave music?

@@yousofalmghari2787 Sorry I'm honestly not sure since I haven't been able to do it myself yet. It's a really hard thing to step away from but one thing that has helped was deleting spotify and trying my best to NOT listen to any newly released songs so they don't add on to the songs I already know. That's helped a bit but dua should always be your first step.

There's so much wisdom in this video. Ever since I came back to Islam after being lost, I find music (especially pop music) to be very irritating. It's very surprising because just before my first prayer after I came back I couldn't stop listening to it. And all of a sudden after the first prayer I stopped it. I am also a guitarist. And I used to love metal and rock songs. But these days i cannot even bear to listen to it. I stopped going to concerts too. However, I haven't completely quit music. I play those lofis and some instrumental music when I'm having my morning cup of tea. But I am happy with my progress so far and all thanks and praises goes to my dearest Allah for guiding me. Alhamdulillah. Inshallah I look for the day when I am able to listen to Quran instead of music.

Definitely taking it step by step is the way to go, appreciate the comment man, I can imagine how it would be difficult especially considering you’re a guitarist so your bond with music is stronger, but Allah replaces anything you sacrifice for his sake with something better. Keep it up.

I saw a reel saying that it's not good to play quran in background. I don't know about the truth... if its bad then we can't listen while going in a bus right?
@YoussefWaly11
@YoussefWaly11 16 күн бұрын
That’s a really good question. In Surah Al-Baqarah, Allah says, "And when the Quran is recited, then listen to it and pay attention so that you may receive mercy.” The scholars I’ve seen generally say out of respect you should generally not play Quran as background sounds to respect and give attention to the words of Allah. Personally when I listen in the bus I listen with the intention of memorizing, revising, or enjoying so I try my best to pay attention, once I notice I can’t pay attention I play nasheeds or podcasts, but it is very normal every now and then to lose focus or if someone sleeps as the Quran is playing. I also touched on this point another video that if a person wants to seek the reward for example of Surat Al Kahf on a Friday then playing it at home on the tv is not equivalent to reading to it or attentively listening to it, so you’re absolutely right. I thought I’d give a detailed answer for you and others to benefit.

Well firstly there is literally no Alim that allows intentional listening to music. Haram beyond a spec of the doubt. The Quran on the other hand is custom-fit for the insaan. By Allah I have never personally seen anyone that actually appreciates the Quran fully. To truly appreciate this mighty book you must understand Allahs greatness. Take a good look at that Quran that is collecting dust in what is probably the highest corner in the room. That book is better than anything you have,could have or anyone else has in this world. It is worth more than you and me and every other thing you have personally seen in your life. A few years ago I used to listen to music. Then I saw MERCIFULSERVANT post a Quran recitation... Long story short Quran has replaced the music. By Allah mark my words. This music is like a drug and your brain is not made for it. I see people loose their whole happiness when the music turns off. When I turn off the Quran its meaning lingers in my mind and gives me comfort. Whether you want to or not,you are not appreciating the Quran that has been sent down to you by the lord of the seven heavens and earth. Allah! There is no god ˹worthy of worship˺ except Him, the Ever-Living, All-Sustaining. Neither drowsiness nor sleep overtakes Him. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who could possibly intercede with Him without His permission? He ˹fully˺ knows what is ahead of them and what is behind them, but no one can grasp any of His knowledge-except what He wills ˹to reveal˺. His Seat1 encompasses the heavens and the earth, and the preservation of both does not tire Him. For He is the Most High, the Greatest. 2:55. the Forgiver of sin and Accepter of repentance, the Severe in punishment, and Infinite in bounty. There is no god ˹worthy of worship˺ except Him. To Him ˹alone˺ is the final return. Ghafir:3 The heavens nearly burst, one above the other, ˹in awe of Him˺. And the angels glorify the praises of their Lord, and seek forgiveness for those on earth. Surely Allah alone is the All-Forgiving, Most Merciful. Shura:5 This is our lord and the lord of all. This is the one who's words have been recorded in that Quran. Remember that when you want to listen to music instead of the Quran next time. Edit:You have to listen to the arabic tho if you want to truly feel it. Allah has purposefully revealed it in arabic. That is the only language that can do the Quran justice. I just told you those verses so you may remember what you are missing out on. But only the arabic will ever truly touch your heart. Pick a reciter you like and...you know what to do. May Allah make it easy.Ameen.

Definitely all amazing information you provided. A lot of content I intentionally haven’t tackled in the video because each video is narrowed down. Quran is definitely to be listened to in Arabic, but I mentioned English as an advice as it’s a stronger language for a majority of my viewers, so they should read English translations and English tafseer in order for the Arabic Quran to have a bigger effect on them.
